The clockwork automata idea is interesting. I may do that if I join.

Alright, I'll go ahead and put up those proposed attributes since silence is conformity, and positive comments are acceptance. Once an OOC is up we should attract more interest. I don't have much of an intro into the setting, so we should work on that before posting an interest thread.

Before we can launch the Interest thread we need a name for each district, and for the town, any ideas?

I'll suggest a few names;

The entire town - Atlas
1920s - Cargo
Modern District - New Barns
Mid-Fantasy - Appolonia
Victorian - Coppertown
Center of Town - Nexus, where all three cultures are allowed to mingle. Walls separate them otherwise.

1920s:
 • Cargo.
 • The Burge (no idea what it is, sounds nice to me).
Modern District
 • New Barns.
 • No idea, really.
Mid-Fantasy
 • Appolonia.
 • Regika. A name from a long time ago that means a little something to me.
Victorian
 • CopperTown.
 • Technica. Though I like CopperTown better.
Center of Town
 • Nexus.
 • Sounds good.

I'm just going to edit and add on. Think that's a good idea?

We can use Appolonia for the modern district.

I'll have to consider Anachroma, though Anachronistic... eh... So far Coppertown seems good, but could be better. The other name for it... they all seem to focus on the steampunk aspect.

The Modern District could be called New Aloria.

That's a better name then Appolonia for sure! We shall use it.

Edit: Regika will be used for the Fantasy district

Excellent, that just leaves the 1920s district.

So far two names;

Cargo (a poor, poor suggestion on my part. I was trying to find a way to spin off of Chicago)
&
The Burge (Which is the name of some kind of building)

The Burg might be something to consider. The Big Apple (New York City) has been called the Burg from time to time, as have a number of large cities like Los Angles. Burg is Dutch/German for City, if I recall correctly.

That could work...
We could add something to that, like Strutsburg, Shaddenburg, Fruedburg or Gottshburg.
Though perhaps we should play to the dark and mysterious tone... maybe with something a little more sinister.

Fruedburg kind of has that feel to it, as it sounds a lot like Fraudville. I kind of like Fruedburg, but it doesn't go smoothly off the tongue. Gottshburg has an authoritarian feel... so we shouldn't use it.

Spindel? Spindelton... Rorceburg?

Spindleton works... so Fruedburg and Spindleton seem like the best two so far. I prefer Spindleton to be honest...

Perhaps we should work more in detail with each district next...

Agreed, we'll need to have detail beyond a 'theme'. We'll need some geographic layout, some locations of to give us an idea of where our characters are in a district. I believe Velborough (victorian district) should have a port, and clock tower.

(also we shall go with Spindleton for the 1920s district)

Clock tower is a must... and a port sounds interesting... Perhaps also some sort of ballroom or palace for the aristocratic?
We should have some sort of organisation to the information we have for the districts, perhaps a form of some sort...

A full fledged dock with bayside factories churning out products. An automated tram system. Screw a palace for the Elitists, dirigibles. Massive residential dirigibles, floating in the sky, tethered by feeding lines and elevator shafts. A shaft mine on the outskirts of town surrounded by the slums. Street urchins living in gutters, making a living running messages or advertising for the markets.

Edit: Clubs for the elite, pubs for the working man.

I've quickly drafted such a form;
Code: Select all
[box]District Name
Culture: (a sentence or less summing up the culture)
Magic: (Magic, magic, magic, tell us about magic? Is it present, and if so, how apparent is it?)
Notable Locations:
==Description[Strike] Below This Line, also remove these words that have followed description. Basically remove anything that's been striked out. Put the text below this line.[/Strike]==[/box]

It looks like this;
District Name

Culture: (a sentence or less summing up the culture)
Common Races: (Five of the most common races, Human will be included in this list in all forms)
Magic: (Magic, magic, magic, tell us about magic? Is it present, and if so, how apparent is it?)
Notable Locations:
==DescriptionBelow This Line, also remove these words that have followed description. Basically remove anything that's been striked out. Put the text below this line.==

We can compare, and mesh mash.

Looks good... Perhaps something else about common races and magic?

That sounds good... It'd be cool to see that...
Though, we don't necessarily have to restrict the flying houses to the rich... Hmmm...
