Under the blazing hot sun, the pool's waters sparkled. At the head of the waters sat Bardiya, one of the most powerful men in the middle east, writing calligraphy. Servants at each side fanned him while one fetched drinks when necessary. In his robes, he was quite the sight to take in. A big man, from years of constant training and sparring, he fit into his ornate robes quite tightly. In the pool itself swam Cyrus, the royal diplomat for the Achaemenid Empire. His small stature should not easily dismiss him however, as he was a shrew and wise man. Bardiya often took the man's advice, only objecting on points he felt strongly on. Only small talk had been made thus far, both enjoying the day. That is, until the lull in the conversation ceased once Cyrus finally brought up what he had been holding in.
"Dear friend, I do have important matters I need to bring to light." Cyrus said, continuously doing laps in the pool.
"Hmf, do speak then." Bardiya responded, finishing up on his texts.
"Well, I was thinking. What if we tried to ally ourselves with the Levant? The Crusaders are a strong kingdom, it'd be far wiser to secure ourselves with them than it would be to fight them." he said, pulling himself up on the side of the pool.
"They'll reject it in a moment's notice no doubt. Our beliefs go against theirs, after all." he replied, looking off in the distance.
"They have been here for quite some time and we have never fought them, if anything we have been good trade partners and their people are just like ours, religion besides the point." he stated, beginning to dry himself off.
"What would tie them to us? They would have no reason to not backstab us." Bardiya said, handing his writing to a servant. The servant scuttled off with them.
"Perhaps you could convert to their faith, maybe even marry one of their nobles. You've yet to pick a wife." Cyrus said, walking over and sitting next to Bardiya.
"That's a very momentous decision. How would our people respond to that? How would the other powers see it if I just renounced the religion that my ancestors have preached for thousands of years?" Bardiya responded, looking back over at Cyrus.
"Obviously we have to ask for some of their preachers and you yourself will preach about the power of their god. Think of the wealth, the power, all of the fear that will be stricken by our name." he stated, stroking his beard.
"Very well, make it happen." Bardiya said, getting up and walking back to his palace.
"Good good." Cyrus muttered. The Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Levant
We of the mighty and grand Persia, must recognize the power that Levant has in the middle east. We can look back to the years of peace we have always shared and all of the wealth our people have generated from our generous trading relations. These have benefited both of us greatly but yet, we have not yet ever truly had good relations. Our differences always have gotten in the way of our similarities, which is indeed a problem to our great Emperor. As such, Persia has a mighty generous offer. In this day and age, kingdoms could squabble over the smallest of things. Truly, one would want alliances with strong and loyal kingdoms to back them. This is where Persia has come in. Our grand Emperor, Bardiya himself, is indeed making this request of the Levant. An alliance between our powers could only strengthen us, bringing our mighty empires closer. If we would ally, we would have complete control over the middle east. Nobody could deny our rightful rule. Yet, this does not change our differences. Yet again, Persia makes a request of you. Bardiya himself could see the power of God, lest he be shown the path. We ask of you this, that you send missionaries to convert our people and lords to your faith. Finally, we ask that our Emperor could marry one of your noble women. With these things, our Kingdoms would be drawn closer together and our might would not be denied. This is quite the offer, not to be taken lightly. We ask that you consider this and we await your answer.

It'd be interesting, would we be taking on particular roles?
Well yeah...... Like scientists and soldiers meant to protect them.
Except maybe set during before the first Gulf War..........
Or maybe during the the end of the first world war..... About a year after the armistice.

ah, I had meant to ask if we'd be taking on roles of different characters; but yeah, classes are fine. Might be interesting.

I was playing Metro 2033 and I noticed that there was a conflict between the Red Line and Hanza (not in the game) and the game featured a war between the Red Line and the Fourth Reich. I'm also thinking of the Order from Of Men and Titans and I thought of a conflict that occured post-WW3 where a coalition of nations known as the Free Alliance battled the fascist Terran Community. Think Planetside 2 but with post apocalyptic setting (I might possibly throw in a third faction as well).
