Today is a day that we send prayers to those who lost their loved ones, the children that know the loss of a parent, the mothers who lost their children, and the spouses who lost their beloved. As much as I would like to spend today swearing in anger at the monsters that did this, I can only weep for the lost. Tomorrow is for anger, today is for remembrance.

I suck at them but really want a good one prepared as I am probably going to have to give a speech on Monday, I got some time to prepare it of course, but I want to ask if this sucks. I need a critic >.< The topic is serious, no, grave; thus I cannot use my usual casual talk and laugh bit.

To those who orchestrated the attacks in Paris tonight, the eight who died as cowards for attacking the innocent, I say this – you will not have the last laugh. Seventy five years ago a man seeking delusions of power attacked France, and we stood by our allies then. In the darkest of times you learn who your true friends are, and I believe not only the American people, but humanity as a whole, agrees with me tonight when I say we are all friends of France.
There is no place in civil society for terrorism, fear mongering, and actions such as this; these barbaric acts are simply horrid and below any true human being of intelligent thought. I understand Islam is, to those devoted, a religion of peace, and I am sure those dedicated to that cause are upset and outraged at what these manic men are painting them out to be; but I believe we all need to understand that men like this, regardless of religion, nationality, or ethnicity are a threat and must be stopped. Two hundred years ago the barbarism was imperialism, seventy five years ago the barbarism was fascism, fifty some years ago it was communism, and now we as a globe face the threat of radicalism.

I'm not saying I'm good at speeches, but maybe I am. I don't know, I haven't do speech for a long long time...

I'll be in a closed room of probably about twenty so if they all show up, I'm afraid if I make it too long then they will lose interest. I want to speak to them and get the point across that we need to act now. *grunt* I am a author though, not a speech writer. The only speeches I write are for fictional characters >.<
Is there an online resource for looking at famous speeches? Might be worth looking at how they are structured >.>

When I used to be help train people for Model UN, I had a saying. A good speech should be like a skirt. It needs to be short enough to keep our attention, but long enough to cover the topic. So it isn't a matter of length, it's a matter of the message. And I think it works.

It's a frighteningly close distance to Paris for me as well, only 3 hours of driving. Heard of it just as I left the cinema where I had watched Spectre with some friends (good movie!). Watched the news about it till like 2AM, with the news that there were over a hundred dead in the theater. Wake up at 9, now it's a 120 dead already.

Yeah, I was talking to Her earlier after she got back from duty, and honestly it reminds me of all those old history lessons they taught us yeeeeeeears ago. Once before Islam knocked on the door of Europe and attacked France, and she fought them back.
