On the wings of angels

Standing nervously on the doorstep of a Virginia manor home, a soldier in a Marine Corps seeming uniform of full black trimmed with gold stood, the cover upon his head was solid black with a large golden eagle bearing two swords in each taloned grip, wings outstretched, and lightning bolts crossed behind it. With a trembling hand he reached forward and knocked on the door, every fiber of his being humming with anticipation as the solid thud of his gloved hand echoed through the large porch and into the house. He could hear no sound, until three sets of footsteps were heard along with the dragging of a metallic object across the floor. He knew exactly who it was as three small voice chimed in near unison, "Mommy, it's a solider!"

Annabelle, Aelianna, and Jamie could be heard running off, one of them must have tripped as a large thud came off the floor; the young man covered his mouth with a closed hand and snickered as the one who had fallen yelled, "I'm okay!", and it sounded like Jamie - she was the one most notorious for falling and tripping. Tiny little foot falls could be heard, someone edging closer to the door, little metallic creaks as if climbing a step ladder; and then a scream as if murder had happened just on the other side of that solid oak door.

Flinging the door wide open a girl stood, just slightly over four foot in height, her long flaming auburn hair pulled into a ponytail, she wore an apron of patriotic design with an eagle across the chest; leaping forward she coiled herself around the trooper. "They said you were dead, they said..." Her wet emerald eyes were very passionate and yet full of sorrow as this young lady of well into her twenties hugged the soldier.

"I know, I know," resting a hand against her cheek the soldier removed his gloves and felt the warmth of her face, brushing tears from her cheeks. Her accent was the perfect blend between a London dialect and the Appalachian tone, which was perfect music to his ears after a long time of hearing nothing but ringing, "I am sorry I was not able to call, they barred me from communication until it was certain I had regained my full mindset." He figured to Hell with the uniform and fell to his knees as the lass crumpled with relief.

"I am glad you are safe, alive most certain. I expect a good anniversary present for the Hell you put me through constantly." Smiling through the remaining tears the lass kissed her partner's cheek. He laughed and nuzzled his nose against hers.

The two stood up, and the gal extended her arms up to her partner, "Can you carry me?" He shook his head with a brief chuckle before nodding, "Yeah." She jumped up into his arms, but his right arm was too slow and ended up getting caught between her legs, sliding up before a squeak came from her mouth. The three girls came running around the corner of the atrium and looked at the pair, her chest braced against his left shoulder while most of her weight was balanced on his right arm was halfway vanished among her dress.

"Daddy!" The girls rushed forward before they all three cocked their heads to the side, "What are you two doing?" Excitement had turned to confusion.

Sitting the young lady down, both their faces red as fruit, the seemingly young parents simply shrugged, "Nothing, what are you three doing?" The lass glared at the young man as he brushed his thumb against his trousers.

"Playing Army, we are fighting zombies; want to play?" The man shook his head and stated not now, as they ran off with toy guns in hand he turned to noticed the young lady's eyes glaring into his very soul.

"You did that on purpose!" He shook his head, "Don't even try to sound angry, I saw the look on your face. Married for almost a hundred years and you expect me to not know every look and expression you are capable of giving?" She turned on heel and walked down the hall towards the kitchen.

One cannot blame them, this is typical of the Hellsings, after all they were anything but the average family.

Sorry, I just really wanted to see how a certain scene would come out in words (I can explain that if you need me to), have to say the results were... well below subpar -.-" dang it.

Ky-Chan went to their farm in the highlands. I prefer to live up there. It's cool, and there's good signal for wi-fi, too.

There were many chickens on the farm though. e.e Chickens frighten the f*ck out of Ky-Chan.

"Fool!", Queen Nega V boomed. Her voice shook the royal palace throne room, enough force behind it to send the Dai Li diplomat sliding a few feet on the marbled floor. His body made a satisfying skidding sound before he stopped. "You dare seek audience with me, Queen of the Nega-Realm, and give demands?! The Dai Li have no jurisdiction here since our contract remains intact."

Coughing a bit from the sudden force, the diplomat stood up slowly, straightening his robe and clearing his throat. "I understand that, but the contract states that Asuras are to be left as neutrals."

Queen Nega merely rolled her crimson irises at this remark. "You speak of Eliza, the Prodigy. She willingly came to the Nega-realm after I informed her what the Dai Li were truly like."

"Well, yes. But if you review the contract, you'll see that the Dai Li are allowed to recruit as well if Asuras start to pick sides willingly, in order to maintain balance. We have just as much right to the other Asuras as you do to-"

"ENOUGH! You Dai Li worms have irked the royal family far too long. If the contract is violated so be it. No Enforcers will hear of the violation and by the time they do, the Dai Li will already be destroyed. Starting with you, diplomat!"

The Queen removed herself from her throne. She wasn't very tall, but her demeanour was intimidating enough, as well as her natural magic ability. The diplomat readied himself for another attack. With a serious look on his face and a low tone, he said to her: "Then the Dai Li and the Imperial Domain of Nega are no longer neutral, and as an agent of balance, I must destroy you."

"So be it!" The Queen titled her staff to point at the diplomat, firing a red ball of energy from the tip. He dodged before countering by creating a boulder, levitating it above his head, and hurling it at her. The boulder missed its target because she dodged, and instead crashed into one of the throne room's pillars.

CRASH!

Bits and pieces of rock were strewn on the floor around the pillar, which remained standing, only with a gap where the boulder impacted with it. Ignoring it, Queen Nega dashed towards the diplomat, attempting to stun him with a staff stab to the stomach. Instead, he caught it, broke it with a swift knife-hand chop, and broke the Queen's hand before she could release the broken staff. Queen Nega had magic on her side, but the Dai Li diplomat was better trained in hand-to-hand. "Didn't anyone teach you that only a fool trusts their life to a weapon, Your Majesty?" He gave a sarcastic tease and a shit-eating grin, which did not make the Queen any happier.

Her guards, dressed in their ceremonial red and black robes, took two small steps as if to indicate they were going to step in. Queen Nega ordered them to stay put with a gesture from her good hand, informing them that this was her royal duty. By now, the diplomat had released her broken hand, which she snatched from his personal space and held it to her chest like a long-lost child. "You . . . you worm! I will end you!" She extended her right hand fully, aiming her fingers at the diplomat, as thin, red beams escaped her fingertips repeatedly. All the diplomat could do was dodge, and dodge he did. First jumping a few feet back, then on the pillars, walls, and anywhere he could get that would ensure the red laser beams didn't connect with his body. The beams were reckless and chaotic, damaging everything they touched. Once the assault ended the diplomat landed softly a few feet in front of the Queen.

"It doesn't have to be this way, Nega. The Keepers only want-"

"I know what they want. They want to toy with us. With Outrealm."

"That isn't true!" the diplomat protested. "They simply want to ensure balance, and make sure the Asuras are protected. They are sacred and once even you respected that. Outrealm isn't the same as Deirealm. We need balance to thrive. We need balance because we crave peace."

"YOU need peace. I need not peace to thrive, I need hosts. New Asuras to exploit and feed off of. With their energy I can become more powerful than any Prodigy in history!"

"So you would blaspheme? How far the Domain of Negativity has fallen. And you call the Dai Li worms."

"It has fallen, but . . ." a smirked appeared on Queen Nega's face. "you will fall with it!" In an instant, a streak of red lightning appeared from seemingly nowhere, but the diplomat was able to react in time. With one hand, he absorbed the lightning and with the other, sent it back at Queen Nega, who did not expect this, and was struck in the heart. A piercing shriek escaped her mouth, with enough sharpness to make her guards wince. They hastily rushed over to their monarch, some crouching down to tend to her, others still with their jaws threatening to touch the floor.

"Y-you . . . dare to destroy . . . a . . . Queen?" Her voice was raspy and barely audible. "Y-you know . . . what this means?"

The diplomat closed his eyes and titled his head south. "Yes. I know."

"Heh. Then . . . good luck. You will . . . need it." With that, the Queen collapsed, rather silently, and stopped speaking. The guards stuck in a state of confusion. They wanted to apprehend the diplomat, but if he took out their queen, he could easily take them on with little effort. After a few seconds of staring at the diplomat with mouths open wide enough to filter feed, the diplomat turned slowly, and headed for the palace doors. "May you be in peace, Queen Nega."

"Did you see that?"

"H-he killed the Queen!"

"How did he redirect her lightning like that?!"

The Dai Li diplomat seemed genuinely sad, moreso in whatever "this means" than killing the Queen. What did it mean? It meant the violation of the Soma Contract, a law enacted during the rule of Queen Nega III to ensure that Asuras could visit Deirealm and be neutral by default, not taking any sides in the war. By interfering with Queen Nega V's plans with an Asura who came to her willingly, her violated a provision in the contract which allowed any faction to use Asura assistance so long as the other factions were free to as well, in order to maintain balance. This meant change. This meant the collapse of the Soma Alliance. This mean war!

"I have failed the Dai Li, but I have saved Outrealm. The Prodigy known as Eliza is too powerful to allow such a significant shift in the balance. I hope my brothers will understand. With this however, I fear they won't have a choice." The diplomat continued muttering to himself as he left the palace, and soon the Negative Domain, heading for Shangri-La, his home.

I liked this. There were a few parts that were a tad awkward, but that comes with practice. All in all a good piece.
Rynagria wrote:
The tip of the blade pressed against my stomach, it's point slowly piercing my flesh in millimeters, digging deeper and deeper. With a roar of pure anger, Belinda plunged her knife into me, the flat metal going into me with ease, my blood using it as a passage to escape from my body. I could only scream and writhe in complete and utter agony, only increased by the slow twisting motion of her hand, as it widened the wound further into a gaping hole. My blood ever so eager to break free from my anatomy, came gushing out in a steady flow, the red trickle soon transforming into a red river. Despite the circumstances, I had willed myself not to pass out from the pain alone, not until she asked the question he had waited for nearly seven years. And with that, Belinda ferried out the knife from the wound that she has created, releasing more of my crimson mercury onto the ground.

"Villain, what say you before your demise?" Inquired Belinda, as sheathed her blade, but not prior to flicking the blade aside to clear it of my liquid lifeline.

The question had made it easier to smile, becoming less deranged and more natural, crawling to a nearby wall and propping myself against it. My legs sprawled out in front of me and my back supported by the brick wall, my breaths quick and abrupt, as I collected my thoughts enough to remember the answer. A question to answer a question. "You call me villain, but I have done noting except to produce a better place....... Nay, a better world for my daughter to live in, can you say the same, hero?"

"Of course, it is my duty." Said the woman with such speed that it threatened to cut my own sentence off, saying it without hesitation immediately after the word hero had left my lips.

Continuing to smile, I proceeded on. "Even if it mean turning your back from what society considered as "moral" and doing whatever it takes to accomplish your goals? Even if it meant turning the entire world against you? Not just the nations, but even those that you hold dearest in your heart, knowing that they will never know... Never understand as to why you performed such atrocities, all for their sake and all for saving humanity from itself. Even if it meant being alone for the rest of your life, until the flame inside has been extinguished by somebody else?"

"I....." Was all she could muster, my words visibly shaking her to the core.

"Where has your confidence gone, hero? Afraid being alone?" I inquired, the smile waning from my lips as I grew closer and closer to death, my senses growing duller by the moment.

"No, I...... I am afraid of being despised by those that I care for....... But do not think that one has to abandons his morals to achieve creating a better world to live in, in doing so, we become monsters ourselves." She answered quietly, her head hanged low, the anger that she used to mortally wound me having been subdued awhile ago. Instead, it was replaced by a growing sadness, as she realizes what I had become, my motivation to do what I did.

"Hero..... Humanity has become monsters a long time ago, the majority consumed by their lust, greed, pride, wrath, gluttony, envy, and sloth. They are but few shining lights in the world, but they cannot revert their fellow men that has turned into monsters into human. No, it requires a monster larger than all the other monsters, so much larger that they are brought back to their cowering human selves. A monster that would unite the world in conflict, the mantle I have taken, all for the sake of my own blood." I continued on, after hearing the woman's thoughts, life slipping from my grasp more and more, the world sluggishly being eaten by the darkness that comes for me. My breaths becoming more labored and raspy, as I looked up and tried to focus on her, the smile returning.

As if to on cue, a piece of the roof collapsed, allowing unadulterated sunlight to stream in and cast it's white ray onto my body. I tried to be as reassuring as I could, the whole commotion bringing Belinda's eyes on to mine. "Belinda..... You did the right thing and I am proud of you, my dear...... No matter what, daddy still loves you very much.... Farewell, my dear girl, take care of yourself, okay?"

And with that, I died, slipping out into the forever darkness of death.

THE END

Not related at all to Hellsing, but this just came to mind when I finished the series. Chao!

Another great story from you Ryn, not as if it's any surprise. I find myself really liking when people write conventions then stand them on it's head.

Now that I've critiqued everyones stories, I hope you'll all be so kind as to read mine. This is the first in a series, a DnD game from the preceptive of my character. I hope you like it, and please, give me criticism.

Mission Log: Entry 1
[Guard Skill: Distortion]

Well, this is new. So how does this work? Do I just… oh look! It’s connected to my thoughts! Well, the chip anyway. So does that mean..?

Yep. I’m here too!

Wonderful. This is my…friend, CAIn. It stands for Cybernetic Artificial Intelligence, though I think it’s more of a continual annoying internal nuisance. He’s an AI accidentally programmed into my mindchip. I was trying to help boost myself beyond my limits, but I got him instead.

What, am I not good enough for you? Is that what your saying?

No, no, I’ve always wanted a chip that berates my every move. It’s what every little mechanic boy and girl dreams of!

Well, if you stopped making stupid decisions I wouldn’t have to point them out, would I?

Enough. Lets get on with the purpose of this mission log, shall we?

Oh, right. I’m so sorry. I’d hate to take away from your “heroics.” The slide, the stabs, the spew…oops. Spoilers!

Shut up. All you did was fap to that audio file Bobby sent you.

And all you did was generally flounder about like a three-legged bantha, messing up your parts of the mission and generally showing to all you’re the rookie of the team.

This was the second day of a mission who’s objective should have been simple. Find out who is running the installation and what is its purpose. When I awoke-er, came- from my recon post, I was quickly brought up to speed. The complex was developing a new type of bio-enhancement chip, but the specifications were unknown. We also were no closer to finding out who was running the installation. As we discussed our next plan of attack, Yuri, our informant, alerted us. She had the head honcho, a short woman assessing a clipboard, in the sights of her sniper and wanted to know what to do. I had a feeling it was a trap, and voiced this to the others.

It’s an overused reference!

But our leader, Roy Hunter, went ahead anyway. Yuri fired and missed and the battle ensued. To make a long story short, we got our asses kicked. Every time we found a strategy that worked, the lady would develop a fuck-you guard skill.

What, you don’t want to tell the log how you attempted a sweet slide attack, only to have her dodge and impale you? ‘Cause I thought that was the highlight of the whole fight.

And what where you doing exactly?

I-er-was fighting off her psychic attacks?

Right.

I then awoke inside the facility. Tandy, the other person on the squad, was going off on some discussion with the only straight scientist in the entire lab. Something about being sorry she betrayed him. I didn’t care. I was more worried about getting my stuff. When we were released, I headed straight for my equipment. However, something was off. My pockets had been messed with! Those bastards!

Not the gumdrop buttons!

What?

Nothing.

Actually, wait. Why hadn’t you woken me up? You aren’t harmed by physical attacks. I could have found a way to free myself and then the rest of the team!

Well, I thought it was best to let you heal. Also, I had to finish some of my shows, so there’s that.

Anyway, pockets. There’s a reason I got so pissed about those things. I keep my pockets nice and organized so I can find my tools, datapad, flashlight, snacks and other things. I try to keep those things neat and tidy after the accident.

But without the accident, I’d never get to see anything!

But I'd still have an eye. After learning that we’d been implanted with a chip that could either get us awesome powers or kill us painfully, we began sneaking out of the installation. Things are a little blurry here, but I think I threw up.

Yeah, you did. After that Tandy chick farted you sort of lost it.

Ewww. Anyway, we made our way to the lobby, where we were confronted with an army of test subjects. After some heavy fighting, a shoe in my eye, and a horrible screech that CAIn actually protected me from, we won. I got an awesome poncho, and we all lived happily ever after. For about a minute. Then came the main lady again. I thought we were about to get into another impossible fight, but instead we just talked. It was mostly boring, except now I have a superpower!

Yep, Guard Skill: Distortion. Able to block bullets and puke. Too bad it wasn’t active earlier.

Turns out the base was Republic owned, and though we can’t inform the other members, we now have access to this advanced R&D lab, which I will be using if I ever can put my tinkering to good use. All in all, it was a cool mission. The little twist was nice, as well as the actual battle with the test subjects. The only problems were my own blunders, which will get fixed soon enough. Eventually, I hope to get to know more about Roy and Tandy, as well as get to use that R&D facility.

 Ahahahahahahahahaha

OMG, some the references! :lol2: It's great Do :)

Anyone want to attempt to help me revive my RP that was decently popular/active before losing all activity in one day? It's sort of a superhero RP.
EDIT: Speaking of writing, I'm doing a story based off the basic story of that RP. I'll share some of it with you when I have enough to share.

Outrealm
