No that's a very good discription. I also like the locations that have been added. I didn't want to have actual voodoo (at least not name it voodoo), but people will do that anyways so let's roll with it :p I'm updating the description now....

... I wasn't going to say it, but, perhaps we could use the world seance somewhere.... like... I know it fits with necromancy, and we could; "Seances are also common, as is consensual ghost possession."

I'm curious as to where the latter (ghost possession) came from.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . . makes me wish we had a New Orleans/Bayou kinda area :/

Sure. Seances sound good...

I'd imagine possesion a way of sorts to always keep a loved one with you, though it'd be rather expensive and not exactly certain. Though it could also be used to gain power from the ghost.

Alright, I'll add that list to the main attributes list.

Yeah, some of the best magic related stories of the era are related to voodoo in my opinion. Still, the district is meant to portray the chicago mafia feel, and jazz scene (though New Orleans was known for it's Jazz).

I don't think one would have to possessed to be close, just haunted :/

So, it's new years eve, but ya'll don't need know my problems.

I've got some muscial joy in youtube during this bleak... this horrible feeling. I almost got out the door, so ready to hit the town, and- eh... anyhow I"m alone now, apparently I'm either no fun, or they don't want me to know what they are doing (they being my siblings who are younger then me, and that are not on as good terms with the rest of the family). It all started with them wanting to do something for new years, and then planning to go to a party; all of us dressed emo, and they seemed pretty excited to see me in emo garb. But the party was canceled. That's when trouble started. They still wanted to go out, but my sister pointed out how I usually go out, and get tired or something, and want to go home (recently this happened at a D&D game, that I did warm up to). I insisted I wanted to, and she again asked, and again... and this just... it ruined my drive to go out and party with no clear direction so I started suggesting things we could do. Like go to the Pizzaria, watch the fireworks, or visit the billiards on mainstreet. They didn't want any of that.

I've been blaming them for me being here (even sent a mean text), but as I type this I realized I really should have just gone. I might not smoke weed like them, or seek to bang random chicks like their friend Noah; but I'm sure we could have done something fun.... kind of worried now... there has already been a wreck or two. They are reckless, and young; I just wanted to do something adventurous for new years.

My mom tried to get me to go to a country concert with her, but I knew it wouldn't be fun. She would have gone with a friend of hers from work, and a five year old girl (the daughter of the friend). It's not how I wanted to spend my new years, and had the chance not come up to go out with friends, I would have been content to remain at home.

Alright, so rather then launch the RP incomplete as a release of frustration, let's continue to work as I calm down.

The following races have no attributes listed for them;

  • Halfling
  • Leonin - Lion people

-calm now-

Eh, I honestly didn't care that much. I survive by getting the fuck back up after being knocked down, and going back to the Internet. And it works great.

So my New Year's Eve was spent at home, occasionally running back here, mostly watching The Lego Movie with my 10 yeah old sister and eating Chinese take-out. Was pretty good, all-in-all.

Leonins could have something to do with the colour of their fur. '
Perhaps there could be the sleek mountain lion version vs the stockier more powerfully built stereotypical lion.
Roars and claws would be good too...

We could replace halflings with Gnomes and focus on faery related powers and traits.

There was a discussion on that possibility -link- do you still feel they should be merged, and if so, why should they be merged?

(Roar, and Claws sounds nice, appearance can be of a cosmetic nature, and can extend to tigers)

Detach yourself from worldly desires my son :p

Halfling
-Resilient: Despite their unadventurous and content natures, halflings are courageous in defense of their homes and loved ones, and hopeful in the face of adversity.
-Countryside Walks: Halflings have high stamina, and can walk for a longer time than humans or many other races. They easily handle rough terrain.
-Green Thumb: Halflings are excellent farmers, and seem to be able to grow anything.

Leonin
-Protractible Claws: Leonin have the ability to protract their claws from a retracted, at-rest position.
-Night Vision: Leonin have excellent eyesight at night, six times as powerful as humans.
-Whiskers: Highly sensitive hairs on the Leonin's face provide it with sensory information about the slightest air movement around it.
-Roar: Leonin are capable of a roar, which can often frighten opponents.

Perhaps... they could be two unique speicies or there could be some "gnomish" traits.

Perhaps we could combine them and name the combined race Halflings. We could also include combine dwarves into it.

hmm... each name has it's own connotation... though due to garden gnomes... and the current traits being used for the Halflings... we'll go with Gnome as the name of the race.

Charmera wrote:Perhaps we could combine them and name the combined race Halflings. We could also include combine dwarves into it.

Well, the small form makes then ideal, like children, for mining operations, and since Gnomes, and Halflings both live under ground; we can add dwarves into this mix by adding an attribute related to tunneling, or (thinking about lepercons, and a Dwarve's sense of gold) a treasure sense, like the ability to distinguish the smell of certain metals, and precious gems. That attribute sounds a lot easier to write.

Treasure Sense: Gnomes have the ability to distinguish, and seek out precious metals, and gemstones based on scent, and taste. These include sapphires, rubies, gold, and more.

Glajinard wrote:I like that, makes sense.

Excellent, then we shall combine the three into one. How does Treasure Sense sound?

Happy New Year everyone!

Also, I have a halfling thing

-Cheerful: Even in the worst situations, Halflings can always find something to be happy in.

-Quick Learner: Halflings quickly learn new things and adapt quite well.

Gnomes
  • Countryside Walks: Halflings have high stamina, and can walk for a longer time than humans or many other races. They easily handle rough terrain.
  • Green Thumb: Halflings are excellent farmers, and seem to be able to grow anything.
  • Invisibility -
  • Natural Brew - insight into roots, and leaves for the creation of medicinal, and recreational substances.
  • Natural Healing of Beasts - Innate veterinary sense.
  • Resilient: Despite their unadventurous and content natures, half-lings are courageous in defense of their homes and loved ones, and hopeful in the face of adversity.
  • Tinkerer's Insight - Able to learn the inner workings of a machine by dis and re assembly.
  • Treasure Sense: Gnomes have the ability to distinguish, and seek out precious metals, and gemstones based on scent, and taste. These include sapphires, rubies, gold, and more.

Currently we have the above, however if we add Arstozkas' traits;

Gnomes -
  • Cheerful: Even in the worst situations, Halflings can always find something to be happy in.
  • Countryside Walks: Halflings have high stamina, and can walk for a longer time than humans or many other races. They easily handle rough terrain.
  • Dependable: Halfings never turn down a favor or let someone down.
  • Green Thumb: Halflings are excellent farmers, and seem to be able to grow anything.
  • Invisibility -

I think we can used the list with Arstotzkas' suggestions.... you know, Dwarves really don't live on the surface though... unlike Gnomes, and Halflings who live on it quite a lot... hold on;

Gnomes -
  • Cheerful: Even in the worst situations, Halflings can always find something to be happy in.
  • Dependable: Halfings never turn down a favor or let someone down.
  • Quick Learner: Halflings quickly learn new things and adapt quite well.

Which list or what attributes should we use?
