I'm not entirely sure what you're coming from. In modern day there aren't exactly many 'blue collar ' workers such as carpenters , stone masons , gunsmiths ect. You're assuming that somehow everyone is now a capable Blacksmith , Carpenter , Mason ect. in a world were such skills were often seen as lower level jobs due to requiring manual labor. You seem to not understand the concept that basically 'no' 21st century technology is going to be functional on a broad scale. It either would've been so completely and utterly fried by the combine EMP's of multiple nuclear weapons or lacks the components required to run. Any remaining 21st Century tech is few and far between.

But there are workers of that kind. So with whatever technology we can repair, we can rebuild our nation, clear it of fallout, and begin to rebuild other nations. So we can feasibly have a 350K military.

You ever watch the Netflix series , Evolution or Revolution (what ever ) Basically a global EMP reverts most things to 1800's tech. You might enjoy it.

You mean Revolution?

I hated it too , still found the overall concept interesting. But it wasn't nearly as bad as The Postman

I agree, it had a lot of potential, but it was poorly executed.

You can't simply 'start rebuilding 'directly after a Nuclear War. There's a twenty year time frame where Nuclear Winter takes place (IIRC) where you wouldn't have basically any expansion or large organized groups. If you really want a good gauge take a peak at some of the Fallout lore that comes shortly after people began resurfacing (FO1 i believe )

I didn't say we've been rebuilding since after the war. You just inferred that. I've been rebuilding since things have calmed down.
