Okay so someone explain this to me: Even though people pray to holy statues that each represent something (basically idols) to bring them favor, the saint statues are not considered idols or other deities, and so Catholicism is still monotheistic. Now how does that work?

Yeah I can totally see the logic for the Schism... Throwing in Saints and Trinities and Ghosts and Jesus statues and trying to fit them all into the rules of "no idolatry" would get really confusing, especially for all the pagan converts
