Well that's what medieval Italy and France and Russia all claimed right? The inheritance of Rome? Also, I think since we have the Pope, we are Rome! 5 Romes!

Hardly. Yeah well, the Holy Trinity is complicated. Also I believe the Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Bible, and then we of course have the saints in catholicism which one can pray to, which seems quite polytheistic to me.

Yeah, but officially, one isn't supposed to, and in fact, it was one of the issues addressed in the Protestant Revolution. Catholicism, being the largest branch, is also the most wayward branch due to all the different interpretations that have had to be incorporated.

And don't even get me started on all those Saints! Okay so someone explain this to me: Even though people pray to holy statues that each represent something (basically idols) to bring them favor, the saint statues are not considered idols or other deities, and so Catholicism is still monotheistic. Now how does that work?

Also, Catholicism has a prohibition against idolatry, which is why the Iconoclasm occurred in Byzantine times. So what's the deal with statues of saints and Jesus? How does that all work?

Yeah I can totally see the logic for the Schism... Throwing in Saints and Trinities and Ghosts and Jesus statues and trying to fit them all into the rules of "no idolatry" would get really confusing, especially for all the pagan converts
