Is the world meant to be largely cooler, hotter or just changed vaguely?

The world is warmer, but only cooler in certain regions. Like the Caspian Sea (ocean now!) is cooler, due to the influx of cool air and water travelling into Central Asia.

Some bits are a bit odd; what's with the Sahara retreating from the north? How come China's north is so much warmer and the south so much cooler?

The Sahara retreated from the north due to the new climate blowing in from the north. It influenced the rainfall on the northern coasts. The south of China is cooler? You mean that yellow part in Tibet? That's the Himalayas.

No, south of China as in the Lingnan region. It's marked as the same as places like Shanxi, despite places like Guangzhou being tropical, and it often snowing in Shanxi.

Also, Australia is strange; where I live, at least, is marked cooler, while parts of the interior are still hot despite the new inland sea that would no doubt cool things greatly.

Wait, are you confused because its 80 degree weather in Shanxi and Guangzhou? I kinda don't get what you're saying.

This may help ye all regarding some climate issues. Note though that our world, with more abundant water and water splitting up the landmasses would have much less arid land than portrayed here.

Hey there, I would like to ask if the Roman Empire (Greece) or The Dominion of Orthodoxy (Poland/Eastern Europe) still have players, and if not, could I make a different application then the one of the previous owner of the nation for the same nation?

I am either thinking of a alliance of Crusader orders that stream from the Mojave/ Las Vegas and will generally be in the Southwest or a medieval version of the Sea Peoples that stem from the Caribbean and what's left of Central America and they are general pirates, traders, and raiders.

Oh  .
Didn't knew that was the map, since the one on the first page of the OOC thread shows, I will assume, the old one. Well then, I will work on my application, if you accept any at the moment.

Oh I see.
I wanted to ask, this is a hotter or colder world? I honestly can't tell, since 37* celsius (80* fahrenheit for you know who) is quite normal where I live.

I think it's very different, sea level rise is caused by warming, but the new seas cause cooling.

both. The world in general is warmer, but climates are more moderated.

Oh I see, that actually makes a lot of sense.
Changing the subject because I don't want to be attacked to have freedom, if I would play a trade/sea based nation, could I make small bases on the map where I have small castles/towns/trade posts? I ask this because I want to feel my presence as a trade nation, but I don't/can't take the rest of the province when that province is gigantic, because it just wouldn't be realistic.

Put some dots down when you do get to claims, I can black border around them.

Ok got it, thanks.
Idk if I should go with a Venice like nation based around Greece/turkey and then eventually either expand inland into greece and turkey and make byzantium or expand into Southern Italy/sicily, Palestine, Lebanon, the shores of Turkey, Syria, Egypt and Lybia ; to go with a Cambodian Empire with bayonets that venerates it's king as a god, with a court full of plots, where the king will strive to maintain controll over the nobility while he tries to achieve his goal of conquering all of Indochina ; or with a Kazakhstan based Grand Duchy of Moskow style that will eventually try to establish Russia.
