Secondly, I know that we aren't Greek or Roman, but that's because we're also German and Gaelic and Spanish and even Chinese ourselves. But China has been invaded and conquered and assimilated so many times, and yet they are still a Chinese. Even though culture in China is incredibly different now than it was 2500 years ago, people still recognize the Han and the Qin as Chinese. I mean China for its name from Qin! (Q makes a CH sound in Latin spellings of Chinese names)

Animals that mutated/adapted in response to climate change, flooding, increased radiation, etc. Plants, as well as humans would do such things as well.

Adapt is fine, but remember that it's only beena few thousand years, not millions.

Mutation, on the other hand, would simply bring the fertility down and give cancer to the others.
