Well, a general or admiral might have a few slaves with him but otherwise no. Slaves are mostly crooks who were forced into slavery to pay for their crimes so they are pretty much only going to be found in the fields and a few factories

No. I just made the US South majority Black. It's actually a back-story I'm developing....In one of my back-stories (that I'm still developing) the US fell into ethnic war after the Collapse....so yeah, to concur with your earlier statement (which I earlier disagreed with, confusing I know! ), the Blacks did end up killing a lot of Whites in the South in terrible race/ethnic wars which lasted for the whole 21st Century (so scratch my earlier explanation). The reasons and background of the wars I'm still working on however. Or maybe I could have the population slowly mix together to make up one ethnic group. Gah! Not sure about which idea to really use!

Of course that's just my version of what happened. You may as well have your own. By the way, do you?

I haven't worked it out yet. Maybe a war, maybe peaceful integration. Now that I think about it, I do quite like the concept of peaceful integration more! And yes, for basically all of American history, blacks have been generally less privileged than all the other groups. However the Collapse destroyed almost all social order. So the generally privileged whites were no longer so, and vice versa. They were all lowered to an equal standing in terms of their situations. Every "race" in America was given a chance to shape their own future and culture. Who's to say that the poor people in America, after the collapse, couldn't (eventually) learn to live off the land and build their own nations?

I haven't worked it out yet. Maybe a war, maybe peaceful integration. Now that I think about it, I do quite like the concept of peaceful integration more!
