Backstory
In 2018, the United States of America fell to its knees again. The greed and lust for money that its financial institutions had nearly killed the country with a decade before had finally brought about the end to the nation's long and storied reign. Unemployment skyrocketed as companies dumped their mainland assets and shipped their production and services offshore, be it to the burgeoning continent of South America, or even the old havens that Europe provided. Regardless, America fell, and when giants fall, the world shakes.
NATO itself was a paper organization for the following years after as America had to rapidly downscale its forces, and as such new alliances, meaningless in their size began springing up. NATO finally ceased to exist in 2023, with the units stationed globally finally being brought home to countries that were hardly recognizable. The Koreas finally ended their war, with the decrepit North being quickly subdued after initial bloody fighting in what became known as the Korean Peninsular Wars of 2025. South Korea and Japan formed an alliance shortly after the cessation of hostilities, with many other South East Asian countries, forming the Pan-Pacific Coalition. Britain, long since the bridesmaid to the U.S.'s bride, surged, and reverted seemingly back to its old Imperial ways. It reforged the Commonwealth, turning it into one of the preeminent global powers, with its main headline nations of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa giving it the global military sway it needed to remain relevant. However, through all of this, there was a hidden dragon about to arise.
Its own economy in shambles by 2020, China's hate for the West deepened, as the government extremists began to scapegoat such nations as the cause for the Second Chinese Communist Revolution. The pro-business and pro-West figureheads were executed or imprisoned, and state corporations began a system of proxy-colonialism in Africa to further the country's interests. By 2029, the Chinese were the largest global power, although with the PPC and the Commonwealth, they could not rise to truly super power status. Shortly after Sudan's attempt to reunify in 2030, Brazil spearheaded an initiative forming the South American Defense Union, or SADU, which became yet another group about to struggle for the resources vested deep in the African heartland.
The stage has been set, and in 2031, global corporations acting as proxies for their respective nations or alliances seek to dislodge interests in Central Africa. Yet, the rapid rise of Islam, the hidden threat on the continent has finally reared its head in the form of the Islamic Caliphate of Africa and Yemen, or ICAY. Its rapid and ruthless expansion across East Africa is as quick and deadly as its roots in the failed Islamic Caliphate of the 2010s fought in Iraq and Syria. Now, mercenaries and extremists run wild in Africa, bringing the continent under a new state of conflict and violence in the battle for global domination.
Technology
As the year is 2031, expect some pretty high-speed electronics and weapons systems. I am generally not creative enough to create a massive list of all the things you can't have, so rather I just reserve the right to edit or deny use of certain technologies. A few recommendations on systems though, and technologies you can see in modern use:
- Smart weapons and small arms using more information, such as ammunition counters or assisted tracking
- Individual HUD and interface systems
- Drones of all shapes, sizes, and purposes
- Vehicles that are more modular and deadly, with greater electronic capabilities
- Aircraft that use VTOL more, with hover and automated weapons systems being very prevalent
- EMP weapons are not uncommon
- Missiles and rockets featuring better abilities and uses (Ex. flechette missiles that hit multiple targets)
- Usage of more kdoular and advanced body armour
- Heavy implementation of exo-skeletons that can increase a user's strength by up to 2.5x (Ex. human can benchpress 100kg without exo, can then lift 250kg with)

0. Look at other accepted apps first! Corollary: Read the entire OP and accepted list before you say anything.
I. I am the OP. I am God as long as you're in the RP.
II. Realism is key. Casualties happen, vehicles blow up, things happen. Deal with it like an adult, and keep fighting.
III. Keep the posts well done, grammatically and spelling-wise.
IV. No actions without means. Therefore, there is no need for a suicidal kidnap mission to the Presidential compound off the bat.
V. I reserve the right to make small edits to your apps if I feel the need to.
VI. People will die. People will bleed. Deal with it, but act like humans out there.
VII. Every post should be a readable-length. Even just conversations, The English language is beautiful, so neglect it to one-liners and your vehicles will have intimate encounters with an RPG rounds
VIII. Extended conversations should be sorted out via TG or OOC before insertion into a post, to keep the posts flowing and the bullets flying.
IX. As the OP I reserve the right to make edits to apps or posts as I see fit to keep the RP running smoothly
