I have a plan for Rome that I would like to run by everyone first. Instead of Leon being founded in Modern day Leon it will be founded in Central Spain, (Leon was originally founded by the Roman Seventh Legion, Leon being a corruption of Legion).

When Rome falls the Emperor is executed, the remnants of the Loyal Roman population flee to Leon, which is still unconquered. From their they rebuild the Empire, as a Republic.

The Monarchist tradition remains strong, and they search for a new Emperor. However fighting between families makes it impossible to choose a new Emperor who could be a neutral moderator of government, so the Republic granted the right to form an Eternal Council of the Regency. Slowly the Monarchist ways of the Empire and were replaced by the Republican ways of the Senate.

The Emperor position being vacant is filled by a Council of the Eternal Regency, a group elected by the Senate including the First, Second and Third Consul plus the Praetorian Captain and the Magister of the Senate.

I think Western Rome was a player-created thing and thus remains reserved. Let me check up on that.

Well, er, Rome never quite fell in the traditional sense of the word... it transitioned from Western Roman to Byzantine control to the Pope's and has remained thus ever since.

@Liec, how did the Tang rename themselves to Achaemenid? The closest you could get to Chinese for that is "A ke mei ni de" and dynasties are always one character for their entire duration anyway.
