History:
1918: The USA came out of the Great war arguably in the greatest shape, with the strongest economy in the world and the gaining of many colonies within the America's from Germany, in an effort to pay of their debts. The USA celebrated this occasion by reopening trade lanes with Germany and her allies, and profiting largely from payments on much needed supplies from the war scarred nations of Europe. During this year President Wilson made his greatest speech, proving to the American people why the USA should stay out of European problems and only deal with European nations in economic matters, and the people agreed with him.
1919:With the Mexican revolution being fought to their south, violence spilling across the border shows convincing signs of needed intervention, for a winner to be decided before such violence spread. And Wilson agreed, sending a contingent of 5,000 men to back American interests. A pact is signed with Germany,France and England. This pact promises multiple loans to the nations to repair their war scarred economy, Wilson says he only signed this agreement because a European power, in a way, promises peace in distant lands, such as Africa and Asia. Military advisors in the USA eye Japan, the strong Asian power a possible threat to the America's colonies and her trade. With this thought in mind, a bill is shoved through congress by Republicans, this a phyricc victory for them, as many are unhappy about the methods they employ to pass it.
1921: The First American Aircraft Carrier is finished, a celebrated accomplishment, and even the President attends the ships send off. The Carrier is deployed to run patrols in the Pacific, the Carrier being aimed as a counter-balance to rising Japanese power.Still loyal to her allies, the USA passes a budget to rebuild England and Frances broken industry, this plan is called the Sinclair Plan, passed by Congressman Upton Sinclair, this bill increased shipments of food stuffs to the two nations, it as well sent engineers to rebuild France along with French builders.
1923: The USA further isolates itself from European activities, expanding it's trade lanes more into Central America, and South America, adding more nations to it's sphere. Trade is specially expanded with nations trading oil, as the USA wishes to reduce dependance upon oil from far away in the world. The US economy expirences an economic boom unlike any in history, as massive amounts of income come in from supplies and matriels sold to Europe. This year see's the rise of a minor party called the Workers Party of America, a Socialist party, that gains minor ground in congress, but is generally ignored by the top Parties.
1924: The US Army is expanded to 250,000 in the off chance the USA has to enforce her wishes in the America's. Researchers take examples from the Great War, and work to improve upon the system and create a style of warfare that generates less deaths. Tanks are looked at for a permanent replacement for Horse cavalry. This year is charcterized by advancements in military tech, as the USA works to modernize her force, but reducing her presence more in Europe, by now the only thing that remains in Europe for America is economic ties.
1927: The USA passes higher taxes on her goods heading overseas, the income from these goods lengthening the US economic boom. This time in the USA becomes reffered to in the USA as the Golden age, all American's enjoying the fruits of the Great war, choosing to ignore the cost these times came at. Research into military arms are expanded, the Navy looking at making more Carriers seeing the potential of the vessel. The US GDP grows more and more at rates that most struggle to record. The Socialists make their way into the news for the first time when they riot for Workers rights, managing to push through a bill ensuring the rights of the Working man.
1929: A day that will live in infamy occurs in the USA, as a Stock Market crash cripples the economy and leaves many without a job, fortunes? disappear overnight. The ruling Republicans are left scratching their heads, while the Socialists seem to always find the right answers, reforms they want to pass and bills ( Similar but seemingly better than the New Deal ) seem a great way to jump start the economy, but the Democrats and Republicans in Congress, block every Socialist attempt. Militancy rises throughout the US as the Socialist gain popular support, but never seem to win any seats, and the right wing congress continues to block every Socialist attempt. Rioters outside the White House are almost shot at, but a quick thinking man named Eugene V. Debs clears the Rioters away before shots can be fired.
1930-1932: Riots continue to spread throughout the USA as the Congress continues to block Socialist moves, calling them "Damn Reds" while the Socialist rallies continue to bring in more and more sympathisers. Once again, charsmatic Eugene Debs finds the right words in a debate, his polls skyrocketing with his promises of the end of the depression and an economy better than before bring more sheep to him. Finally in 1932, Eugene V. Debs is elected president, shortly after, he declares the end of the USA, a failed system in his words, and shouts about the creation of the Free States of America, an oligarchy with socialist principles. He begins his presideny by passing the factory funds bill, using these funds to reopen almost 1,000 closing factories and put them under government control. Further reforms include a bill placing all commercial farming under government control, a bill giving the government complete control of the resources with which to produce things, and the First 5 Year plan, a bill putting even more focus on Industry and centralizing the economy, as well as secretly purging the Democrats and Republicans the Socialists deemed responsible for the depression.
1934: The Free States prosper beneath the Socialists, while the Democratic party seems to disapper, the party splintering over the subject of Socialism. The Free States continue their reforms and expand the military and modernize it, hoping to keep many of the nations it had in it's sphere within it;s sphere, with force if nesscary. While unhappy with the change at first, more people begin to rally behind the new government, seeing it means them no harm, at least to their face. Manufacturing is expanded and exports are increased by 10%, as well as production of all manufactured goods being increased by the same amount. The FSA uses it's agricultural power to force many nations in Asia beneath their boot as they slowly renter the world, but avoid Europe, wishing to stay away from the Powder Keg Europe might become again. Japan is eyed once again, and the Free States Navies focus is put upon the nation, in ways such as lessened imports of needed goods, such as oil and metal.
1938: President Eugene V. Debs announces a nationwide celebration, announcing that the FSA economy has grown exceptionally well, and the Depression within the FSA should end by the end of the year to halfway through 1939. People cheer madly, as they celebrate the growing power of the Free States, loving the status they have adopted unwillingly, as a Classic Marxist state.

I mean, I suppose I could see a party combining Economic Social Democracy and social conservatism happen, and then gathering up people from either as it grows, but I have my doubts at an actual Social Democratic party going socially conservative. Otherwise, looks mostly fine.
