Well, if I recall correctly one of Germany's goals after the war was to establish some proto-EU single market zone so that the German economy could easier expand into other nations. Not sure how interested Germany and Austria-Hungary would have been to set up a League of Nations after the war though.

Yes. But I just feel like something should be done about the Middle Europe threat to make the RP more balanced. Like seriously, the win the war and then they continue to be super militant and don't disarm much and are just not gonna be super aggressive against the Entente powers. Like it kind of makes the RP harder if they are still strong (which of course they are) but that they haven't done what the British and French did and just tone down the rhetoric.

Ground Forces:
The French state of 1938 practices general conscription both for the military and industrial sphere this leaves it with a reasonably trained military backed up by a disproportionately large productive capacity, focused on supplying the ground forces, which are primarily extensive. Fortunately France only has to defend a single front.
Naval Forces:
In the absence of colonies, the Navy has essentially been abandoned, left to play with a grand total in large vessels of a single battleship, three frigates, and a grand navy of twelve submarines divided into three squadrons. Most of the navy's strength now comes from high-speed torpedo boats dotted around the country's ports.
Air Forces:
The primary mission of the French Army Air Department is air interdiction, as CAS roles are primarily fulfilled by artillery and strategic bombing has been given little thought beyond how to counter it (a role primarily fulfilled by trailing AAA units and permanent AAA emplacements around cities.)

-in 1936 requirements for greater production leads to a unified "General Tank" project fulfilled by the Somua S35, a design featuring christie suspension. This also allows for expanded production of the Mdl. 1927 semi-automatic rifle, which begins to see issuance among all ground units
-in 1938 rearmament continues apace with the Dewoitine-designed "Etenard-V" fighter aircraft (officially designated a crop duster) entering service. The French government has built up significant hidden stockpiles of resources in preparation for a general war begun by German aggression. Everything in the French state as a whole seems to be going fairly well, with the authoritarian government keeping a tight grip over the press.

I'll go with a pro-Germany parliamentary republic that is increasingly dominated by the Action Francaise députés and senators, who are agitating for the government to pressure Germany into returning Meurthe-et-Moselle, Belfort, and Vosges, or to pressure Belgium into returning Nord-Pas-de-Calais. The Action Francaise are having some luck in reawakening the dormant ultranationalism in the French people, and have managed to expand the French industrial and military base significantly in the past few years.

I'm also planning on having the French Third Republic collapse immediately after the war -- 1920 or so -- and the successor state of the Fourth Republic refuse to pay the reparations in full (before collapsing in an attempted Socialist/Communist coup d'etat), resulting in the current Fifth French Republic.
