Anyone interested in a hypothetical alternate ACW, whereby it is West vs East? As in, the Western states attempt to secede from the union? Perhaps the Mexican wars go much better or something for the US, with Mexico losing more land and being nearly completely annexed? Therefore the Western states would be predominantly Hispanic, with the Eastern being predominantly Northern European-thingie?

Basically, the dividing point would be Colorado or something, with Texas and California being the major states in the Western Confederacy or whatnot. Also, probably some sort of Mormon state and some sort of second Native American uprising, perhaps mixed in with a greater level of European intervention?

Well I mean there is also the fact that Sonora, Baja California and pretty much all current Mexican states north of Mexico City (ish) will also be former states in the union. They definitely have a high Hispanic population.

I since lowered the amount of land that the US would have annexed, probably in a hypothetical Third American-Mexican War. Basically, the states of Baja California (+ del Sur), Sonora, Nuevo Leon, Sinaloa, Durango, Chihuahua, Coahuila de Zaragoza and maybe Tamaulipas (roughly). Everything else is independent as a Mexican Free State or whatever, most likely completely independent from the US and a supporter of the Westerners. Maybe part of a Central American confederation? Probably not but eh.

Texas & the rest of the northern Mexican Empire's ethnicity is butterfliable.

Hopefully so. Texas I think could justifiably have the same ethnicity, and could have sided with the Westerners more on the lines of states rights and possible independence than of ethnicity.

I think that there will also be some sort of Second Tecumseh, probably with the Shoshone - rather than the Shawnee - at the forefront of the Native American rebellion.
