dibs on being in charge of cold war stuff c:<
why are you reply so fast DDDD:<<<<
The competition would be very low maintenance, so if people are interested, I could get it up while recovering from exams (i.e. in the 15 minutes after each one when I go *SIGH* and try to forget that I have to revise in 15 mins). It'd basically be "worldbuild something cool". Hell, I could open it tomorrow if we get interest overnight. Only issue is whether to have it voted on, who is eligible to vote if we do, or if I judge (and if I get other judges aboard).
The titles thing, less so. It would things more hierarchical, which isn't good, but it would provide people of experience. Ideas for what sort of titles and how they should be gained?

I'd like the competition, but how about we do something like:
-Here's an area on the map, build a history for it, and the best (as voted by the worldbuilders as a whole) gets to become the history of that area in the world we are building.

Rules and guidelines will appear later today, when they do, comp begins.

Mmm, that would necessitate putting it in the same world, which would be restrictive in terms of tech, geography, magic, biology, and would probably create a rather incohesive world.Emilio Aguinaldo wrote:Guys I'm stuck. Magic? Are we gonna do a science fantasy world?
'Cause I'd love that.

Welcome one and all to the inaugural (and possible sole) Historical RP Group Worldbuilding Competition! Anybody may enter this contest, to create the best universe they can. It will be judged by me, Alleniana, unless voting by members of the Historical RP Group is introduced; we will get back to you on how the winners are decided. There will be, however, clear criteria voted/judged upon, and certain rules, presented below:
Criteria
The entry will be judged in three major categories:
Concept, Detail, Presentation
The concept is the overall idea; the basis, the theme, the principles on which the world is functioning. It is to do with how imaginative and interesting the world is, as a whole. In a way, it also relates to how cohesive it is with the overall feel and ideas that it has been constructed with, and how well-devised they are. It may also relate to realism.
Detail is just that; the detail. It is generally to do more with the effort put in, and the development of the main ideas into actuality. The broader and better explained the world is, the higher it will score on this. Most likely, the more you do (i.e. the more expansive the world), and the more thought you put into it, the higher the detail score.
Presentation is to do with the way that the work is presented and shown. It relates to how easy it is to access the information, how easy it is to understand it, and how well the concept and detail are conveyed. Aesthetics play a great role in this category. Images, such as flags or maps, that engage with the audience or are of good quality will help raise this, in particular.
Rules & Guidelines
1. Do your own work; while you can resubmit work that you have done in the past, that is not preferable, and if that work was a collaboration or used someone else's format (i.e. a wiki template), it is really toeing the line.
2. Try not to reveal or release too much before the fact. It helps prevent copying (after all, no claims of plagiarism can be made if a person never had access to the alleged copied material!), and makes the grand reveal grander.
3. You may work in a group with others, but a person may only work as a member of one entry. A note; please keep these groups reasonable, like, try not to recruit the whole of /pol/ or something.![]()
4. Only one entry per person/group is allowed. If you are part of a group that has submitted an official entry, you may not submit another. If you require clarification on this (i.e. helping without recognition, what constitutes helping, order of submission), TG me, but the general rule is if you or your group will submit, nobody in your group nor you may submit again.
No prizes except bragging rights. More rules and stuff coming later, this is the basic gist though. Feel free to begin.
