I think I've got good enough an understanding now to prevent non-realism quite effectively, as compared to back then.

Why The West Rules?
anyway, the plan for the prehistory->future RP would basically be to allow everybody free rein, until they abuse it, at which point I bring out the scholarly debates and great works of literature.I think I've got good enough an understanding now to prevent non-realism quite effectively, as compared to back then.

Why The West Rules for anyone interested. Good book, would recommend. Also very relevant to much of our AH, IMO; in fact, it contains a passage of AH and refers back to AH and related genres often. Basically a book explaining how and why we got from the ancient world to now the way we did in terms of power balance with plenty of useful numbers, reflections while not being dry. I really really ought to read Guns, Germs and Steel though.

Sounds good to me! When can we expect an OOC? I'd like to do something in sub-saharan Africa/the OTL Swahili Coast.

Hah!
Same here. I've read 1491 (great book, especially helpful if you want to RP anything regarding Native Americans or the Americas), 1493 (also extremely helpful for the era between 1500 - 1750, regards the Columbian Exchange and its global effects), and Why the West Rules - For Now, and a bunch of books on national/regional histories, but I still haven't got around to reading Guns, Germs, and Steel.

Expanding upon this though... Why the West Rules - For Now, is basically a longer version of Guns, Germs, and Steel though... so I guess there's really not that much need to read it if we've already read WtWRFN :v
