History as in human history or just civilization history? Or perhaps the planet's history?

Goodbye, so many swamps in Eastern Baltic. That's geographical history. Anyway, I would change the prehistoric Balto-Slavic cultural split so the Balts would be more numerous. Like, say, instead of half a million or something in the 1000s, there would be 3 million of us, at least. Also, make the Balts contact with the rest of Europe more, and accept St. Brunon back in 1009 and Christianize, thus getting the ability to adapt to European advances earlier.

Thus, you get a powerful, wealthy, populous Christian Baltic kingdom two centuries earlier. Eventually, Kievan Rus should start to crumble, and then it's clobbering time. Balts more populous and Westernized - no adaption of Ruthenian culture, instead, Ruthenians adopt our culture. We assimilate the Eastern Slavs.

That would be a fun time.

why bother making RP concepts when you no longer RP

in no particular order
1. to annoy people with RP concepts that may get them excited but that will never become RPs
2. because it's fun
3. to remain relevant ;_;

though, I do have an idea; I could concievably run this concept as an RP, because it's set in a 2015 with somewhat less conflict than ours, and somewhat more technological advancement. That is, to say, there would be less war (than there is today, even, which is not very much compared to just about any other time in human history), and RPing would be more internal (politics, economy, technology) and be focusing on such things as, say, stock market mergers, development of technologies like nuclear fusion, customs/currencies unions (probably expanding), humanitarian crises, a new "space race" to Mars, Venus, Jupiter, asteroid mining and so on, agricultural expansion (factory farms for plants), transport projects, the advance of the robot economy and the quaternary sector and resulting unemployment, beginning of post-scarcity economics, superbugs, global warming, peak oil/coal/gas, solar flares, artificial intelligence, artificial bodies, ridiculous lengthening of life expectancies, the development of the internet, the increasing ability of humanity to terraform (floating/underground cities?), the consolidation of the UN as a world government, and so on... yeah.

So, as you can see, the list of things is quite long for someone interested, but because conflict is far less present and thus the likelihood of competitiveness and cheating and other RP of bad intent is reduced, it would take less work to OP. Only realism checks would be needed, and there would be far less conflict resolution, which could make things less interesting, sure, but I think it's not too bad, as plot, except for countries instead of characters.

Thoughts? I'm not definitely sold, but I'd like to get back into some low intensity RPing once in a while, particularly over this three week holiday period.

Been thinking about new RP ideas and went back to one of my old RP's I set up:

Loved this RP a lot, but it came to the problem towards the end of people backing themselves into corners due to not much to do. We had a lengthy discussion about doing the same idea as the idea itself was great, but a different era to have more flexibility with our decisions and we summed our arguments up like this:

Ok, i've compiled a small list of things that each period would do for our RP.

Before World War I
This is the period that extends from 1913 to anytime before like 1540 or further. The things this would bring us, is a emphasize on Kings, Queens, Emperors, and Diplomacy, before the first WW1. Although I was apart of some RP's before this, it is not something I wish to open one myself on, simply due to having to go into depth on who had what technology wise, which is harder to do so far back, then more modern-like. So I kinda don't want this personally, but it could be done.


World War I
This is 1914 on, during World War I. I honestly see no point in this one, as no matter what is played out differently, it won't effect to much, as after this war, most people will be stuck building up domestic stuff. Since their people would be tired of war, which will get boring quick.



World War Inter-War Period
Stock Crashes, Depressions, ect, ect. Just a period of all out badness, which is how Tyrants even rose around the world during this time, due to the bad economic situation which we would spend years fixing, regardless of what is enacted. So I don't favor this period either, as it can just get us into a messy situation, with nothing happening.

World War II
I love World War II, as everything that happened during this is amazing. But even then, it is like World War I in the sense that after it, you will be focused on rebuilding efforts for a while. No depression (Unless you lost). And many RP's have been created on WW2 already, so hence I wish to avoid this one. Even though I love it so much.


Cold War

The Cold War has a uniqueness to it, as their aren't many RP's that can exploit the full potential of the period from 1945-1992. It was a huge ideology war, with covert operations, tipping points, and numerous coups that give everyone the ability to change the World in so many directions. I support this period personally, because with all the options available, if we have a good USA and USSR player that is active, and knows the country in and out, we can really have a fun time. The technology is semi-modern as well, meaning nobody is just Super-OP, and Nuclear Weapons are only possessed by the USA in 1945, meaning less risk of Fallout till later. Hey, and since this is Alternate History, maybe Hitler's Germany could've survived. So we could have Fascism/Nazism-Communism-Democracy.


Modern Times

I like Modern Times, but the problem with it, is that most nations are overpowered, due to their massive technology advances, if you tried anything, people like the USA or Russia could have a mass deployment of troops in less then 8 hours, turning your nation into rubble. If it was not a Alt RP, it would be ok, but in Alternative History, we want stuff to change, and to me this will limit it.

I'm thinking of having the POD be around 1919, and actually have the RP start in 1945. This means WW2 might have not happened yet or gone as far as it did, Hitler could still be alive, the United States could've actually forgone the fascist coup that failed, etc, etc. What do you guys think? So yea, I've still been pretty busy so I'm sorry I haven't really been around. But I have also been reviewing ideas from elsewhere I could incorporate, and I believe I have something, or a few ideas. I will put them to the era they correspond to, and will allow for you all to have a say in it. Please read all of them, as they each have something unique to offer.

Scenario: For some reason, Hitler doesn't become a Anti-Semetic Dictatorship, he instead rose to power on his Hate to the French and British, which allowed him to become Chancellor. He soon kicked out the Brits and French citizen out of his country, while still making Germany a totalitarian state. They also have hate of the Communist. Now due to him not being anti-semetic, he would still have the idea of Lebensraum, but does not want all of Eastern Europe, which is why he doesn't prepare his forces for it. In 1939, Hitler does not invade Poland, but goes through Belgium and the Netherlands, to get to France. After defeating France with Blitzkrieg tactics, he allies with Italy and he goes after Britain with the full might of the Wehrmacht. Stalin, is to involved in the U.S.S.R to care about the events in Western Europe, Hitler then invades Poland with the same agreement they had in Historical 1939, and also invades Denmark. He stops here, as even though the Nazi's hate Communist as well, they never invade Russia, but the border is not what you would call "Peaceful". After Britain is defeated, and with all the major powers gone in 1941, the only thing left for the Wehrmacht is underground resistance groups, to which the Americans fund. Japan still bombs pearl-harbor, and Hitler declares war on the U.S.A, America launches a attack along the Scottish Coast, in attempt to beat back to Germans. Yet the overwhelming Nazi Influence, is difficult, and with no Soviets, America was fighting the Entire Wehrmacht alone. Making France and the rest of Europe, Deathtraps. And as the hold of the Nazi's take hold, Europe believes through all their propaganda and school teachings, that they are part of the German Reich as well. And from here, you would have to decide what would happen to the USA.

Scenario: This one has two mini-scenarios. One being either after World War II, the allies initiate Operation Unthinkable. Which is difficult, due to the Soviet Army outnumbering the allies 4:1. Nuclear Bombs were dropped on Moscow, Kiev, and other major cities, which shocked the Soviets initially, but they were still able to push the Allies back to France, then soon out of France to Britain. And you all would have to make your histories after this. The other alternative Cold War Scenario is, during the different conflicts that happened during the Cold War, such as Vietnam and Korea, we could have a different ending to that, making tipping points to become closer then they were. Like if the United States invaded Vietnam, which would probably cause China or the U.S.S.R to invade the USA, for invading a Communist Nation. Whatever your imagination can come up with.

Scenario: You would have to decide what happened after WW2.

Scenario:Let us go into the year 2045 or so, and make up history as to what happened before, to make new nations. Probably have new technologies, and political developments.

1854 - The Eureka Rebellion takes place in Australia, succeeding after crushing the British due to popular support from the people, and establishes the Commonwealth of Australia.

1859 - New Zealand votes to join the Commonwealth, and leaves the British as well through it's own guerrilla warfare.

1865 - Assassination of Lincoln is foiled by a lone guard walking past and stopping the man, injuring the Guard, but saving Lincoln. In turn of this, Lincoln soon wins the Civil War, and passes "The American Reconstruction Acts", which were a series of acts that prosecuted anyone in the South, and educated America to be more tolerant of races and people.

1869 - Lincoln has left office, with high approval ratings with Congress and the northern population, while the south is being taught "Sensitivity Training", to think better of other races. Ulysses S. Grant is the next President.

1890 - Blacks and Whites began to get along, and under President Benjamin Harrison, Segregation is declared over, and many races are now able to vote, run as president, and not be discriminated against.

1899 - After hearing about Nikola Tesla's experiments, many members of the presidents cabinet convince him to give him a government grant to start a new company. Nikola accepts, naming it "Nikola Energy and Electricity". Also allowing for electricity to be free across America, allowing the Market to grow.

1906 - Due to the increase of tension in Russia, Trotsky decides to take his supporters, and move to Spain, and establish a new brand of communism.

1913 - Balkan wars end, with the Ottamans taking Montenegro, Greece, Bulgaria, and Greece, effectively moving to a policy of isolationism, and staying out of WW1.

1915 - During WW1, Stalin is killed when the Germans advance on Minsk, as he was hosting a meeting there, and Lenin appoints Alexei Rykov as his successor.

1916 - The Red Army, being led by Lenin and his supporters during a attempted coup, fails and Lenin is hanged, but not without taking the attention of most of the army from Moscow. The White Army under Pyotr Nikolayevich Wrangel, decides to dissolve the government themself, and Proclaim the Russian State "The U.R.R.S, or the Unified Russian Revolutionary State.

1918 - Germany is defeated, and Austria Hungary divided and the Versailles treaty is implemented as usual. In a Russian Forrest, a strange craft is found crashed, and remains of bodies of unidentified origin are found, and taken for study in a Russian laboratory.

1921 - Due to the civil disobedience movements in Russia, the unidentified bodies were given to The United States, along with the towed craft, who Tesla began experimenting with Energy weapons.

1922 - Benito begins his march on rome, but like Hitler during the putsch, was injured after the Prime Minister installed Marshal Law, and was taken to prison for life.

1925 - Trotsky gains much popularity in Spain, due to his many economic reforms that the economy desperately needed to stay afloat, and manged to launch a coup against the government, establishing "The Democratic Spanish State", even if he was a foreigner. Calling him self, the Supreme Ruler of Spain, with authoritarian powers.

1926 - Fishing ships began to notice strange things happening on the western coast of Spain, to which the Spanish send a small naval expeditionary force to investigate.

1927 - Due to the mixing of Ottomans with the locals in the Balkan territories, "The New Balkan Army", group was established, and began acts of terror across the balkans.

1928 - Nikola Tesla invents the Television, and begins moving it into homes everywhere around the world, along with a higher powered radio.

1929 - Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, have continued to gain popularity, with 60% of the public supporting them for the upcoming election. He has promised through the new Televisions invented by Nikola, to rebuild the German state, and retake back what they lost. Benito after being imprisoned for 7 years is broken out, and moved to Abyssinia, were he founds the "Fascist Party of Abyssinia".

1930 - The New Balkan Army reaches 200,000 Members, and begins attacking military bases, along with government institutions.

1931 - During a long search of the weird things happening near Spain, the Spanish Navy discovers the lost city of Atlantis, and began looking on ways to pull it up from the sea.

1932 - Nikola Tesla's research into the aliens, have brought about Energy Weapons, Body Transformations (Super Humans), along with a new Chemical he names "Chemical X", that causes affected person to immediately become dehydrated among human contact, and turns them into Ghoul Like creatures.

1933 - Nikola begins introducing hover craft to he world, as he has managed to reverse engineer the mysterious craft, and discover the components to hoovering. Hitler also wins the elections, and President Hindenburg decided enough was enough, and Hitler was declared Fuhrer and Reichskanzler immediately, and began his plans for rebuilding. With Himmler setting up the Ahnenerbe to search for other mystical items. With Hitler declaring Jews to be vital to rebuilding the german state, as they are better used as labor, then killed.


Mid-1933 - America is couped during the Business Plot, by General C. MacGuire and his fascist helpers, along with Huey Long set up the "American Union State", with Macguire being declared First Citizen, and Long as Grand Duke. Nikola Tesla, fearing a Fascist United States decides to move to Germany, and keep his company running.

1934 - The City of Atlantis is risen from the sea with Tesla's new hoover technology, and is declared to be the Imperial Capital of Spain. With golden streets, and only the most expensive shops and luxuries. Britain is beginning to experience a wave of Republicanism, after the technological foundings of other nations, and the actions of the King not acting on anything, with terror bombings happening across the Island of Britain. The New Balkan Army, reaches 700,000 members, 200,000 being armed and the rest as civilians reporting to them, as the Ottomans declare Martial Law in those area's, worsing the problem.

1935 - Evidence of increasing Technologically advanced civilizations have been uncovered by the Ahnenerbe, and designs for Flying Aircraft Carriers, Shielded Tanks, Wheeled Tanks, and Particle weapons are now in development in Germany, without the worlds knowledge. With Albert Einstein researching into WMD's, as the Jews are not being persecuted.


1936 - The World is here now. Will update when we get farther.
