"Put that down, Mr. Eric." He said. "She's obviously not a chicken."

My dad flies the Cessna Caravan, I'm a fan of the 172 and 152.Die erworbenen Namen wrote:Microsoft flight sim. Silly sim. I fly combat sorties on Warthunder.
I'm a Tier 5 US pilot.

Purely for realism. If someone who knows more about the inner workings of planes, they should be able to write more about the activity at hand.
Think of it this way. A soldier can probably write a better description of life as a soldier then an arm-chair general.
I believe that spaceships won't be that different in the future since governments will be forced to retrain a bunch of people, and in turn pay more money.

Flaps, rudders, ailerons, wing-loading, rate of roll, rate of climb etc are all pretty much moot in space. Flying single prop planes has basically no bearing on operating a rocket in a vacuum.
It'd be like me claiming that I can RP the medic better cause I go to law school. The skills are not exactly transferable.

Exactly. Plus, since A: space is big and B: objects in space maintain their speed and direction unless gravity gets in the way, most space pilots would be doing docking and the occasional strategic burn, unlike airplane pilots who have to be more-or-less alert all of the time.

A feeling that results from feeling the effects of gravity.
This is all pretty immaterial anyhow, so maybe we should flesh out the story a bit before we all jump in?
How liberal/conservative is society now? What type of firearms restrictions should we expect on board the ship? Are distant colonies scientific or more colonial in nature?

The pilot would be for anything that a computer couldn't handle and should the computer break down for some reason, having a pilot dock instead of a computer would likely be more accident prone.

The UEG is a democracy in name, but an empire in reality. It's a type of global NATO which encompasses most of the world's countries, minus a couple of radicals in Africa and South America.
To combat the universal uprisings and crime, the UEG now allows any person to acquire a concealed carry permit which can allow them to keep a small pistol on their person at all times. The colonies are very colonial, think like FOBs on distant planets with civies instead of soldiers.
As for technology, think of more gritty space stories, with space "architecture" like the pics I put in the OP. I'll put links too all the inspirations in the OP in a bit.

I meant how permissive is society. Is it moralistic or libertine?
Are we outright banned from bringing certain weapons aboard as they will compromise the hull? Are there systems for quickly sealing breaches (like the gel in the Gundam series)?
