a: I have no idea how to accurately portray that.

b: I feel this RP doesn't necessitate that much information.

The majority of the cylinder's population were scientists or intellectuals of some sort, including Susan's mother and father, a roboticist and a mathematician, respectively. She followed in her father's footsteps and focused on the mathematics behind jump-gates, which she wrote her dissertation on. In order to add both the practical and theoretical areas of her work with the jump-gates, she spent more than a little money on cybernetic augmentation. Susan's arms, eyes and the majority of her musculoskeletal system have been replaced by machinery, to aid in surviving in the more hostile regions of the cosmos that she would need to visit in her work, and an AI named Diogenes has been created to act as a companion/number-crunching device/split personality for her to help with the actual scientific portion of her work. Diogenes was created as part of a line of AIs designed to aid researchers and scientists in their work by alleviating some of the work and acting as a "second opinion" on difficult problems. Highly eccentric, insular and philosophical, he is almost the complete opposite of the outspoken and logic-minded Susan, but for years they have been close friends. Due to her need to physically access the jump-gates, her small size and her ability to interface with electronics using Diogenes, Susan has been given a mech to use for the repair mission.
