Journal of First Sergeant Keating

Postby NeoTarakia » Wed Oct 08, 2014 5:11 pm

The Northern Lands
October 2nd, 2060
9:28am

My name is First Sergeant Ashley Keating, I'm a 27 Year Old Tank Platoon Commander, this is my first peacekeeping operation so I don't know what to expect, we've just arrived in the Northern Lands and I'm not liking what I see, Rangers arrived an hour earlier at 8am and set up a small command post and distribution center for food and water, my convoy was tasked with bringing in the rest of the water and food at the expense of man power, we're literally all armor and light vehicles, with very little infantry with us other then the Rangers that arrived earlier.

My Tank, as well as several Infantry Fighting Vehicles will be patrolling the area and handing out food and water. I just hope we don't get engaged by anyone or anything, because there is a lot civilians here and a stray round could make someones day go bad. I've instructed every loader on the tanks to load Non-Lethal Anti-Personal should the need arise to take someone out of the fight.

Truthfully? I'm scared, there is a lot of factors and possibilities here that could go bad. My biggest fear about being on these streets and in these towns is Improvised Explosive Devices and other irregular threats, but it's just something me and my crew will have to deal with and whatever call I make.. could result in either success or failure...

It's time to patrol.

Peacekeeping is admittedly one of the least thrilling assignments compared to the frontlines we've faced but we are experienced enough to handle it. The difference this time is we are in foreign, but allied territory so there will be differences. The inhabitants are some sort of talking horses and zebras so everything from which ration to provide to riot control will see differences. It is our task and by the Emperor I will fulfill it.

The Colonel Tsuji I work with has both good and nasty rumours. He's said to be a tactical genius, earning him the title "Saint of Operations" but expressed some form of insubordination towards his superiors. He's one of the military personnel under the command of the Tenno, some sort of hierophant for his Sub-sector. He and his men will do most of the dirty work around here, meaning I will be working closely with him and have permission to execute him if he goes out of hand.

Boone is coping with our new multiverse well. I'm not sure how everyone else is doing as we did lose a lot while surviving. Some have their hopes that there are other survivors we don't know of and if that's true the High Lords of Terra would want contact with them. Boone's exploits been getting attention that she may be sent to some places leading a few people.

Cuddles mentioned a possible small warpstorm coming in a day or two. Although warp travel became less dangerous, entering a new reality can cause some ripple effects.

Emperor be with us,

Lord Commissar C. Raege

Peacekeeping, the very thought of peacekeeping brings back memories of the Insurrection. Memories I wish I could leave behind, the friends I lost to those fools will always haunt me. I joined the Nhil'Karian PMC for fighting not for peacekeeping. Hell why do I always get the peacekeeping missions...

At least I'm out of Empire for a while, the people back home are always planning their tiny rebellions and always go on about how the Emperor is a puppet. Here it's different... fellow soldiers from Nations I've never even been to greeted me like one of their own, I was even told "good luck" something Nhil'Karian wouldn't allow. I question if I'm even worth deploying here after all Nhil'Karian is the biggest AI manufacturer in the Empire, and with a AI controlled army like this... they probably won't need people like me anymore.

It's time to board Outer Haven, lets see what this place has that the Empire doesn't have.
