Description of RP

The year is 2030, and a lot has changed in history starting from the year 2014. New revolutions, ideas, have been spread throughout the globe, leading to a shift in the current political structure. How will your nation handle the present threats of today? Use the timeline below, and make a history for your nation, without a pesky United Nations giving much trouble.

Timeline:
October 1st, 2014:
 • President Barack Obama of the United States in an effort to decrease the US Budget Deficit, calls on the United Nations to have a more decentralized system, limited by regional influences. He went on to layout the plans, that for each continent, excluding Antarctica, the charter of the United Nations shall be carried out by a "Leading Nation" which is to be voted on by each country in the continent, with a 2/3rd majority vote. This would allow for each continent to have their own little United Nations, and have a more regional input on how problems are sorted.
 • Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, declares that by the end of the year 2017, the Drug Cartels will be eliminated, by his new Drug Care act, which legalizes the sell of all drugs, but not the distribution.
 • Syrian Rebels begin to lose land to ISIS, with US Airstrikes targeting some rebel outpost, mistaken to be ISIS compounds.

October 20, 2014:
 • ISIS makes more land claims along the Northern parts of Syria, with the Syrian President calling for Russia to intervene in their civil war.
 • Ethiopian economy grinds to a halt, as a Epidemic of AIDS and Cholera begin to sweep across the country, putting thousands in the hospital.
 • Saudi Arabia, opens three new pipelines to ship oil easier. Allowing for greater profits to the royal family.

October 28, 2014:
 • Russian troops, sent under a presidential directive enter northern syria, and a ground war is now present between the Syrian and Russian Armies, against the Rebels and ISIS forces.
 • The United Nations strongly condemn the action, but no resolution against it passes due to Russia's permanent seat.
 • The World Health Organization, commences operations inside of Ethiopia, in an attempt to prevent the spread of Cholera and AIDS.

September 15, 2014:
 • Mexican authorities arrest over 20,000 suspected criminals of the drug trade, pending trial after the Drug Care Act passes, giving Federal Authorities the ability to search whole cities. Many call this a violation of rights in the country.
 • The situation in Northern Syria deteriorates, as ISIS spreads into the Southern Area's of Turkey, and the Turkish Military establishing a stricter border control policy, leading to skirmishes between Russia and Turkey.
 • North Korean leader Kim-Jong-Un, declares South Korea to be the cause of the epidemic in Ethiopia, and also conducts a test on a 7,500 kilometer missile, which succeeds.
 • In South Sudan, the government passes the "Intolerable Acts", declaring if anyone supports the government of Sudan by providing it with financial assistance, or refuge, they shall be arrested on acts of Treason, even if evidence is not substantial.

September 16-December 31st, 2014:
 • Ethiopian Pandemic spreads to neighboring Somalia, and Eritrea, causing riots and great amounts of property damage. Nigerian Officials dedicate their selves to helping those countries, and assigns a Commission to help the World Health Organization in containing the outbreaks.
 • China announces a new Environmental Scheme, to decrease the emission of gases, and make the air less polluted.
 • Virtual Reality is introduced.
 • Iraq officials, begin to push into the ISIS controlled parts, pushing the the group further north into southern Turkey. Turkish ministers launch a protest at the Russian Embassy, and closes the borders between Iraq & Syria.
 • Turkey, being a US Ally persuades NATO to assist in a peacekeeping operation, to ensure the conflict spreads no further into Turkey. France, Britain, USA, Germany, Korea, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia offer their services for the operation.

January 1-December 31st, 2015:
 • Russia succeeds in pushing ISIS and the rebels out of Syria, with the Syrian president congratulating Russia, and allowing Russian military bases to be built in Syria. Public resentment against Al-Assad's reign, is shown by the people for his action.
 • The Southern Border of Turkey is now a warzone, with ISIS coming across in large numbers, artillery and air strikes have been common in the area, giving rise to civilian causalities.
 • Somalia, having no real functioning government request that the United Nations formally merge all of Somalia, into Ethiopia to have some stability after years of problems. Eritrea offers the same deal.
 • NATO Allies support this move, as Ethiopia is a strategic ally, but Russia, swaying the votes after dealing with the ISIS threat in Syria, threatens that it will increase terrorist activity in the area, and effectively lead to an increase in tensions.
 • ISIS, begins a counterattack with the rest of its forces into Iraq, pushing the Iraqi military to Baghdad, where a standoff ensues.
 • The Merge of Somalia and Eritrea into Ethiopia is approved, and the three nations soon join into the East African Federation.
 • 15,000 convictions in Mexico in results to the Drug Care act, with the president also authorizing American DEA agents into the region, to assist with investigations.
 • The world's first fully sustainable, zero-carbon, zero-waste city is built, giving rise to the idea of self-sufficient cities.

January 1-December 31st, 2016:
 • Iran, manages to build Nuclear Weapons, and declares this to be the first step into establishing a New World Order.
 • With the United Nations inability to deal with conflicts in the current state, Obama's suggestion is finally adopted, making Brazil, United States, France, Russia, Nigeria, Australia, the first countries to lead the new Regional United Nations in their continent.
 • Russia decrees, that the Ukraine is a sovereign part of Russia, and announces a full invasion. Troops march over the border, engaging in a skirmish with the Ukranian Military. Due to Ukraine not joining NATO, and the United Nations downgraded to a regional level, this move is allowed with little notable objections.
 • France, Britain, and the USA announce a trade embargo against Russia, in response to the invasion.
 • Venezuala and Cuba, sign a agreement, to allow Cuban companies to operate some of Venezuela's oil contracts, in exchange for Venezuela's help to allow Cuba to rule the Caribbean in an alliance.
 • ISIS fully annexes the country of Iraq, declaring it to be the Islamic State of Iraq. Iran engages in talks with the USA, over the issue.
 • The World Health Organization, with Nigeria's help is able to stop the crisis in the East African Federation, and allows for economic assistance to the country.

2016-2030:
 • Russia fully annexes the country of Ukraine, with most of the southern Ukraine people cheering them on.
 • China's environmental reforms, have greatly reduced the expansion of economic growth, to level at around 12 Trillion.
 • Mexican Dissenters, upset with the reforms imposed by the president, initiates a coup, and announces that the Drug Care Act, is now declared null, allowing all the mobsters charged to be released. Corruption goes up, and Mexico is beginning to look like it is run by the Cartels on a Federal Level.
 • Iran, upset with the recent developments of the United States not offering a clear solution to the Iraq problem, engages in secret dialog with ISIS, promising to give it military support, in turn for their help against the Great Satan United States
 • Israel, upset with the recent developments sends military forces into the Palestinian Area's, to finally curb terrorism once and for all. This action is met with hostility, and Palestine declares war on Israel.
 • The regional United Nations, declares that the Arab's are the predominant peoples of the Middle Eastern region, and Israel has violated their rights, calling for a Final Arab Offensive, to wipe Israel off the face of the map. NATO intervenes on Israel's side, causing tension between old Arab Allies, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
 • With the United States distracted, and 40% of their forces moved from South Korea, North Korea invades the South.
 • The War in Israel, is met with a stalemate in the hilly terrain, with neither side really wanting to try and rush it. Seoul has been captured, and it looks like the South Korean army will be on their own, during the war.
 • Russia, declares support for the Arab's, and another Russian force is sent to fight alongside, bringing casualties to an all time high, and causing the nation of Afghanistan to leave the United States sphere of influence, in favor of a more regional Russia.
 • United States interest drop fast, with the GDP dropping from 25 trillion in 2023 to 7 Trillion in 2030. A Depression has occurred, and the United States has abandon most of their foreign obligations.
 • Cuba, taking the opportunity, launches a swift invasion of the Caribbean Islands, and with the War in Israel, the people protest against getting involved, causing the United States to stay neutral.
 • South Korea begins to push the North back, causing China to join the DPRK side, and destroy the south. Kim Jong-Un dies due to illness, and China begins to form a new government to administer all of Korea.

2030-Present:
 • War in Israel rapidly losing support in Western countries, with a stalemate still in progress.
 • The East African Federation, begins to rival Nigeria's own economy, causing tensions between West Africa, and East.
 • China is now the world's most stable economy. With 19 Trillion dollar GDP.
 • France experienced a wave of radicalism during this whole period, with parts of the country in riots. Particularly in the Southern parts.

Rules

Timescale:
In this RP, I will be generally directing the timescale, although you are welcome to help out with that in the game. Because of the nature of the way RPs like this work, a single day can elapse over countless posts, or a single post can advance the timeline by a month. All that is asked is that no-one advance the timeline unreasonably. By this I mean that if two nations are at a conference and are engaging in discussions, some other player can't make a post that takes place a week in the future. That being said, try to keep such conferences to a minimum in order to keep the timeline moving.

Historical Accuracy:
What does this mean? Obviously, it doesn't mean that we're going to be following history's course exactly, or at all. That would ruin the point of this RP! I encourage players to seek different alliances, find new technologies, and make different decisions that their nations did. However, this does NOT give you the right to futz with everything all the time always. What do I mean? Well, you can't instantly change your country's goals, for one. Killing off certain figures and promoting new ones for convenience is frowned upon. More specific rules regarding historical accuracy can be found below:

Waging War:
Any conflict that is started must be waged reasonably and realistically. Also be aware of the terrain you are invading as that is a determining factor in battles. Troop mobilization on a nationwide scale takes time as well, at the very least two weeks for the most advanced nations just in the home region.

Technology:
Know what we had in 2014, and refer to the link below on what was developed. If your creative, you could make weapons out of it, but DO NOT use the timeline as what happened in ours. Just the technological developments.

Know How to Lose:
If you lose, say good game and go on. You can request to play as a revolutionary with new goals in the country you lost power in if you wish, just be realistic and don't go out there doing superman style politics/warfare.

Meta-Gaming:
This is the last point I need to make. What is meta-gaming? Well, when the Japanese start thinking about negotiating a takeover of Korea, and suddenly China sends troops to occupy Korea, that's meta-gaming: because China couldn't possibly know exactly what the Japanese were thinking, but the Chinese player has chosen to act on what the Japanese player posted. This is unacceptable. Espionage was severely limited in effectiveness during this time. A player stating a simple idea in a private setting should expect that the idea remains secret. Yes, there are situations where espionage makes sense, but if you are caught acting on information that your player wouldn't have known about, you will receive a single warning, and if you do it again you will be kicked.

Post Quality:
All post will at least need to be two paragraphs long, with 8 sentences per paragraph minimum. If you do not meet this standard, do not apply. To see a example of this, check the first reply to this topic, it can be really long or the way the Afghanistan post is, either way both are accepted.

Needing OP help:
This RP has finally (yay!) got to the point where people are posting a ton in the OOC. Because of that I will not be reading all of it. If you need me use the following tags that I'll be looking for:
- 429 - Application or App assistance
- 411 - Questions or concerns
- 911 - Emergency that needs OP resolution
- 365 - Reporting rule violations (godmodding, metagaming, etc.)

Basic Forum Etiquette:
Simple forum etiquette applies here as it does everywhere else. This means following the standard rules.

Rule Violations:
From here on out, all violations of the rules need-to-be/should-be reported using the following code. If someone god mods or meta games, report it. Don't just wag a finger, actually say what they did, where it was wrong, and what should be done. Should the person be kicked? Should we restart the RP? What needs to happen?

Code: Select all
Who did it:
What did they do: (Godmod, meta game, etc.)
Links to the post:
Brief Description of why it is godmoding/metagaming/etc.:
What should be done:
365 - do not remove tracking purposes

Have fun!

Nation Info:
Nation Name: The People's Republic of China
Head of State: President Da Li
Powers of the Head of State: The most important power is to nominate the Premier, and that's really it.
Head of Government Premier Ru Shi
Powers of the Head of Government: (I'm no expert on the PRC's government, so here is a wikipedia article about it.)
The Premier is the highest administrative position in the Government of the People's Republic of China. The Premier is responsible for organizing and administering the Chinese civil bureaucracy. For example the Premier is tasked with planning and implementing national economic, social development and the state budget.[1] This includes overseeing the various ministries, departments, commissions and statutory agencies and announcing their candidacies to the National People's Congress for Vice-Premiers, State Councillors and ministerial offices. The Premier's powers and responsibilities are codified into the constitution unlike the Prime Minister from the Westminster system as by convention or traditions.[1]

The Premier does not have command authority over the People's Liberation Army, but the Premier is the Head of the National Defense Mobilization Committee of China which is a department of the armed forces. In recent years, there has been a division of responsibilities between the Premier and the President wherein the Premier is responsible for the technical details of implementing government policy while the President gathers the political support necessary for government policy.

In 1989, then Premier Li Peng, in cooperation with the then Chairman of the Central Military Commission Deng Xiaoping, was able to use the office of the Premier to declare martial law in Beijing and order the military crackdown of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.

The Premier has been supported by four Vice-Premiers since Deng Xiaoping's reform in 1983. The First-ranked Vice Premier will act in the premier's capacity in their absence.

How often are elections: Every five years
When is the next election: 2033
Flag:
Image

Capital City: Beijing

Government Form: People's Republic... duh...
Ideology: Chinese nationalism, small amount of environmentalism, Socialism, and a kind of pan-Asianism, not to unify, but to have China lead all of Asia.
Ruling Political Party(s): Nonggong Party
Ideology of the Party(s): Science, technology, socialism, medicine, basically goodness for the peasants and workers.
Foreign Policy: The idea of Chinese supremacy never truly died, and with China's growth and it's official "Being the strongest economy on Earth"-iness, the idea of Chinese supremacy and nationalism has only grown. They see the West as an obstacle, one that is becoming less and less important, yet an obstacle large enough to prevent China from doing all it desires. With the occupation of Korea the West has grown more worried in China's ways, and with the new policy of a "renewed" tributary system (although this is yet to be enforced, the new Korean government is likely to be the first "tributary state") has only worried them more. The USA is China's #1 rival in nearly everything, especially now that China's navy is sailing around the Pacific like the US's. China views most East Asian nations as potential tributary states, especially nations like Vietnam and Laos which are still Communist). India is a fierce rival, as is Russia. Mongolia is looked at as another future tributary states, but of little value other than "looking great on a map". Africa is a possible target for tributary states, but this is very far ahead, for now Africa is a black hole for charity, and although the standard of living has gone up there considerably, the amount of overpopulation has too. Australia is generally "there", not much to be done with it.
Foreign Stance towards Neighbors: Korea is occupied and about to become a tributary state/puppet, Japan are the other powerful East Asians.... and China doesn't like it one bit. Vietnam and Laos are viewed in a kind of "I am your overlord" way, although they haven't become tributary states yet, as are the Philippines and Mongolia. India is a MASSIVE nation growing very quickly, like China in the late 20th and early 21st Centuries, which worries the Chinese government. Nepal, Bhutan, the "-stans", Burma are kind of "whatever, I don't care". Taipei (or as the capitalist swine call it, Taiwan) is almost certainly going to see something happen soon. Lastly, Russia is another rival, and still disliked for taking Outer Manchuria all those centuries ago.
Civil Freedoms /10: 7.5/10 (gotten better in sixteen years)
Political Freedoms /10: 6/10 (the NPC is elected, but the rest is elected by the NPC itself)
Economic Freedoms /10: 7.5/10 (with the Nonggong Party in power, standard of living the possibility of rising up the social ladder has improved)

Military Size: 5,100,000 (2,450,000 active frontline, 2,650,000 reserve)
Branches of the Military: People's Liberation Army Ground Force, People's Liberation Army Navy, People's Liberation Army Air Force, Second Artillery Corps
Military Description: Let's start off with a Mission Statement:
Consolidate the ruling status of the Communist Party
Help ensure China's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and domestic security in order to continue national development
Safeguard China's national interests
Help maintain World Peace

The PLA (People's Liberation Army) is the
Strengths and Weaknesses: (What is your military good at, and what is it bad at?)
Secret Projects: (Any Secret Projects you been working on?)

Domestic Policy Info:
Economic Policy: (In depth, should be decently sized).
Policies regarding Equality:
Policies regarding Military Administration:
Policies regarding Immigration: Employers are fined $1550 for each illegal immigrant the employ, up to
Small History of your nation from 2014 until the start of 2030: Mostly an expansion of human rights, overhauling the prison system, increasing military presence in Korea and Vietnam and Laos, smashing Tibetan nationalists, and having buddhists reel from the shock of no longer having a Dalai Lama.

RP Experience:
RP's you are currently in: History of Nations, Forge of Empires
How active will you be?: Eh... mostly active
Why'd you choose this nation? Because I get to rule da wurld!
