The largest navy in the world, the US navy, has some 320k active service members. It operates 10 aircraft carriers, 15 frigates, 62 destroyers and 72 submarines. That's a total of 159 warships. Andoria operates more than 2x as many submarines and more than 3x as many warships (assuming by ships he's referring specifically to warships). If people bring their numbers down here, I will as well, since I claimed 175 warships based on the fact everyone's numbers are inflated massively.
The largest army in the world, The People's Liberation Army Ground Force, has 2,285,000 active service members. Russia maintains the largest tank force with just over 15k tanks. For comparison, Ghondra maintains a ground force of 18million active soldiers, or almost 8x the size of the Chinese army. Another way of looking at it, Ghondra maintains in it's active ground force alone approximately the same amount of soldiers as the entire RL world's militaries combined, in all branches. The size of all the world's countries combined is about 7billion, while Ghondra is only 650million.
So really, it depends on what we're doing. Do we want to be somewhat realistic, or should we all just inflate our numbers to keep some balance. At this rate, anyone who keeps their numbers realistic will be heavily outgunned by just about everyone.Cymrea wrote:Sexy.

Ah, well then it can't be helped. I still would like to know the progress of global warming. A key part of my nation was going to be that receding Arctic conditions are opening up fertile land causing a booming agriculture sector and a net exporter of agricultural products. But otherwise, yes we have oil to buy what we need

Military: The United Republic of Taehan (URT) Armed Forces is a large and technological advanced military with a long and proud tradition and is considered a great power in the sphere. This is due to a long history of warfare and the ambitious goals that are set in store for the future. It is a well-funded military and the state issues compulsory conscription for men. Over 15,000,000 million active military personnel or around 2% of the population are stationed across the Republic in which they are ready to fight for the glory of the state and interests of corporations/society. The Taehan military is divided into the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marine Corps which is a semi-independent part of the Navy. The Taehan military while also being used to protect Taehanese and Taehan interests/property world-wide are also used to gain profit when it seems to be useful. They will prosecute wars to gain a competitive advantage and especially when vast resources, technologies, and land is up for the grabs. And if they do lose they will make sure nothing is left for the victor. However they are more reluctant/un-willing to go to war if it would mean economic damage.Navy: The URT Navy is the naval warfare service branch of the URT Armed Forces and is one of the most important branches of the armed forces. It is a potential blue-water navy which is working towards automation to lower the number of personnel while at the same time is rapidly expanding centered around aircraft carriers and super missile-cruisers. The YRT Navy is under-going recent naval modernization efforts and intentions of developing blue-water capabilities coinciding with economic growth. It has a massive aircraft carrier program underway and is also in the process of acquiring longer-ranged naval aviation and a larger strategic submarine fleet. With rapid modernization, all older aircraft types in service are quickly being phased out and emphasis being placed on developing modern and future generation fighters. The URTAF is currently concentrating on qualitative expansion of aircraft as well as multiple aircraft programs are going on to increase the effectiveness of the Air Force. The Air Force also controls much of Taehan's nuclear arsenal and provides a effective MAD strategy. A Brief History of My Nation: The nation of Taehan was officially formed after the unification of the Four Warring Kingdoms and a unified state was finally established. From that day it became a state with heavy cultural influence on neighbors and with it's military kings and their campaigns expanded the territory greatly eastwards. At that point the Taehan became one of the largest economies of the ancient world. However such prosperity was not to last. A civil war arrived once more and the nation caved into two. Both nations co-existed for some time, but conflict raised it's head again. One nation collapsed into anarchy while the other had a military coup and new dynasty was started in Taehan. Eventually Taehan was able to reunify all it's territories and entered into a golden age of science, technology, and culture. A period of peace was known for a vast time. However this caused Taehan to become a isolationist nation destined to be overpowered by more powerful nations. However when it's borders were forced opened during the early 1800s a momentous occasion occurred. A period of rapid modernization, industrialization, and urbanization occurred in Taehan so that by the mid-1800s the state became a world power. Multiple wars occurred in which foreigners that had laughed at the backwardness of Taehan would never do so again. They had learned to respect and fear the Taehanese. By the early 1900s the nation was bustling with economic power and yet some people were concerned that the corporations had too much power. Peace continued until the early 1930s in which a severe economic downturn occurred. The government was blamed for the causes and the corporations began getting unruly at the current governments incompetence.
Therefore Taehan was taken over by militants that saw that a vast Empire was needed for economic growth and it went on a brutal conquest of neighboring states in a war which lasted nearly a decade and ended up destroyed much of Taehan in exchange for vast swathes of land as they were pushed back and pushed forward a final time reaching it's modern day borders. This was the final nail in the coffin for the monarchy. The corporations had been joyful at first at the influx of raw materials, but as they suffered greatly, they agreed to reinforce each other and funded a former CEO a astute and intelligent man known as Yi came to power in 1946 as the Prime Minister. Using shrewd political manipulation he was able to gain the support of the military which had it's funding cut repeatedly cut as the government couldn't afford it and overthrew the government which was found popular. A self-made man, his criticism of the former government along with his humbleness gave him immense popularity. Notable changes were made such as increased corporate political power. As time went by any national parties would get weaker and would be eventually be filled with pet Congressmen and such as in present times. And the larger corporations began swallowing the competition while expanding overseas which lead to today's twelve multi-national conglomerates. Corporations would later fund and fiance more so-called elections as the budget increased. However at the moment Taehan was the most pitiful it had been in centuries. Martial law was declared and it wasn't until more than a decade later did the economic miracle occur.
However the economic boom which would make Taehan what political scientists would call a "economic superpower" and a emerging superpower occurred after President Yi was assassinated and the founding blocks of economic growth were put in and President Jinheung was "elected" and was sponsered by all twelve corporations. Under his administration, Taehan's economic performance in which foreign companies were locked out and the shift towards strategic industries with low profits in the short-run at first lead to an enormous economic boom which brought the country fully out of depression and from damage caused during the wars. Increased consumerism occurred and due to financial flexibility increased and modernized to the latest of infrastructure. The economic growth, fueled by investments, enormous natural resources, and exports lead to rapid re-industrialization, technological advancement, education booms, large rise in living standards, rapid urbanization, skyscraper booms, and heavy modernization with structural stability as well as excellent credit rating. The nation is now officially a "Republic", but in truth it is a technologically advanced corporatocracy with heavy global surveillance dominated by prominent multinational conglomerates which controls daily political, social, and economic life. I'm gonna adjust the numbers so I have less ground troops, but trust me Ptol, I am not the biggest military on the block, and as you said, pretty much anyone who tries to keep the numbers down to realistic level is gonna lose one way, or another. With that in mind, I again suggest that to those who haven't, to halve your population and reduce the size of your military, reducing GDP to RL levels are recommended but not mandatory. This inflated balance is not that realistic (then again most of us have very big territories, so...

Speaking of the High Parliament, I think it is a horrible name. Perhaps the Confederal Parliament, or the Transcontinental Parliament (since Aqruthia connects both Atalantas) sound better?

Transcontinental is great.
Also, my military numbers are because i'm squished between three giant nations. They are purely for defense, even if one of those giants is my ally.
