Come on, give me your best shot. You go first." The Merfolk said, keeping a s,all distance between them and loosening his body up. "Gods, it's my eighth year here, you think I would've got used to this kind of thing by now." Vizil said with a small chuckle on his part now, looking into her eyes with the soft blue glow of his.

Alem relaxed when he admitted that he wouldn't hit her. She wasn't too scared or anything. If it was someone her size, she could do that. But he was kind of a big fish. She nodded at him, taking a quick glance at the teacher but immediately training her eyes on Vizil again. She brought her fists up like she had in so many classes she had been forced to take at the school. She took a short breath before throwing her best punch at Vizil. Her whole weight was behind it. Well, as much as she could get up to his tall face. Her first missed his nose and landed just at the edge of his cheekbone. She gasped a little as she pulled back afterwards, taking a deep breath at the dull pain that came across her hand and arm. "Haa." She said with half a laugh. "Did it hurt?" She rubbed her arm, trying to shake it off.

Vizil's head recoiled a tad bit at the punch, and a small blue mark came to be on his face. He rubbed his cheek gently, but quickly composed himself. It stung a bit, but didn't feel like he was getting slugged really hard. "Ooouuuch...." He feigned out, trying to make Alem feel like she did something. "That kinda hurt, you know." Vizil said, lying , but with good intention. He noticed her rubbing her arm, and smiled. "Looked like it hurt you more than me, though." The Mer stated happily, taking her hand and looking her arm over. It was a bit red from her putting force into the punch, but alright. "Are you alright?" He asked, squeezing the hand gently.

Luke rubbed his sore jaw, and idly wondered where the girl went. He could tell from the pluck that she was somebody who always liked to win, and he could appreciate that. I single thought crossed his mind as smiled, "I like her."

Karkat woke up to the sun shining through his window. He immediately noticed that his alarm clock was NOT making that obnoxious ringing. This would normally be a good thing, however it was not ringing because he had forgotten to set it.

Bloody Hell...

He quickly assembled his books, as well as his most treasured possession, his sickle, and ran as fast as his rather stumpy legs could carry him. To his surprise, he ran into his teacher on the front lawn, rather than the math room as he expected.
"M-Mister Ralevon?! I thought we were going to do math in this class..."

Not that I'm disappointed....

He suddenly noted that everyone was partnered up...except for one kid. He walked over to him and said "Hello. What's going on here?"

He walks up to the kid, who he doesn't know personally but is called 'Cal.'

And she was completely fine with that, even a little amused.

She let him take her arm and giggled, shrugging. "I promise I'm not that fragile, it just felt funny." She smiled and met his eyes. "Oh, yes you are, you're a fragile little thing. That's why I do all the heavy lifting." Vizil said with his typical wide smile and very happy around her. They had been training together for years, having a bit of a partnership in that manner when it comes to sparring or just general combat. He did the typical fighting, and she helped in her own way, with her powers. The Merfolk heavily enjoyed these times, and honestly, it was how they got to know each other to the level they did. He refrained from picking her up to show his point.

He looked back at her, and into her eyes softly. He could tell she was struggling, resisting something. "Are you alright there? I hope I didn't inadvertently hurt you too much. It seems like something else is bothering you."

Violet hadn't really seen him before, but she thought working with an unfimilar person might be fun. The only real problem is she had no idea which class this was...

Sebastien, grateful for a partner glanced around quickly, this was very unlike him. Is something wrong? You seem kinda on edge Sebastien brings his attention back to the girl "Oh sorry, where are my manners, my name is Sebastien and um yea I'm tad nervous, but what about you?" Sebastien notices her seemingly confused expression "You look like you're confused about where you are" He points to Mr. Ralevon "That's our Math and Arithmetic teacher Mr. Ravelon and so we're in Math class, albeit and odd one" He runs his fingers through his blonde hair nervously and silently curses

"Nice to meet you, Sebastien, I'm sorry that I've really never noticed you," she said, a genuinely apologetic look momentarily crossing her face. Thinking about it for a second, Violet added, "You know, I'm having trouble remembering the last time I was really, completely nervous. Then again, I've also forgotten how to tie my shoes about a dozen times...I probably have brain damage. —And thanks a lot, I don't have a schedule yet so, I think I'll just follow you until I get to an elective. That okay?"

Right after that, she heard something about punching her partner in the face. So, she looked Sebastien square in the eyes, drew her arm straight back...and punched him in the face. She felt kind of guilty for doing it as her fist connected with his nose because it was quite a satisfying feeling. After the fact, she looked around and said, "You're right, this is a weird class."

Cyll's eyes widened as she was given the instruction to punch her partner. Her wolves heads seemed to circle her after she was told that, as if on high alert. She had been quite quiet and non involved since she got here, so finding a partner was hard enough, but before Cyll could approach anyone now she was told she would have to punch said partner.

So now my already extremely low chance of finding a partner is worsened by the fact I have to punch whomever I partner up with. She sighed. She had not forgot about her fear aura, which was likely the reason no one had approached her (Besides the six large wolves heads circling her). She had a mental sigh Well, it's either punch someone or get expelled...

"Um... anyone want to be partners...anyone..." She said, loudly yet with an element of timidness. She then was reminded of her wolves heads. "I won't bite you if you punch me... I promise."

Lawn, Math Class
Ariel Sylvari

Did he...no...yeah, he did. Ariel thought, caught off-guard by the professor's instructions, as she watched others already participating. Some looked unnervingly eager while others seemed to be of a more timid nature towards unnecessary violence. The math teacher, for some inexplicable reason, had just asked them to partner up with their class mates and punch them directly in the face. Was this what she was supposed to expect this year in math class? She hoped not.

Feeling uncertain of herself, Ariel looked around to try and find a partner. Most of the people seemed to already have been taken and only a few were left. Deciding not to be choosy, probably for the best if you need to punch someone, Ariel walked over towards the 'Wolf Girl'.

"Hey, I'll be your partner." Ariel said, resisting the urge to recoil from the monstrosity that stood or rather floated, in front of her. Keeping her eyes focused on the girl's upper-body, Ariel found it easier to deal with as she walked closer to the girl.

"I'm Ariel, pleasure to meet you." The blonde girl nodded, observing the necessary social formalities of introductions. She gave a small smile, looking at the wolf heads as they stared back at her. "Cute, erm...wolves."

"Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know your name..." said Ariel, looking back towards the girl.

She smiled as Ariel offered to be her partner, though it was a little harder to maintain when she commented on her wolves, whom were currently baring their fangs at someone who intruded on their space, responding to her own basic sub animal instincts. She quickly mentally dominated them, regaining control of them as if they were her own limbs. She just had to hope it wouldn't slip when she was punched.

"Pleasure to meet you too." She sighed a little. Extending a hand. "I'm Cyll. Try not to pay too much attention to them," referring to her wolves heads. "I know they can be a little... terrifying, but their a part of me, so they won't hurt you."

"So... how do we do... the whole punching thing..." She said awkwardly. Unsure of how to proceed.

Lawn, Math Class
Ariel Sylvari

Ariel started to wonder whether picking this girl as a partner for this particular activity had been a good idea. Brushing her hair back to tie into a ponytail, Ariel watched attentively as the wolves calmed themselves seemingly of their own accord. Taking the ponytail from her mouth, Ariel completed the tie and shook Cyll's extended hand.

"Cyll," Ariel repeated, trying to commit it to memory. Glancing at the heads again, Ariel tried to follow her advice, but found it rather hard to. "I'll try and keep that in mind..." murmured Ariel softly, as began sizing up Cyll.

"Well, like this I would imagine." Ariel replied matter-of-factly before pulling back her arm and punching Cyll on the side of her face. It had been a relatively soft punch in Ariel's case, not enough to bruise, but would certainly sting. Leaping back a few steps, she watched quietly as Cyll reacted. Ariel wanted this pointless exercise to be over as quickly as possible. There was no sense to discussing punching someone in the face for three minutes when it could be done in less than ten seconds. Ariel waited for Cyll to recover so she could offer her own face to the newly-met girl. What worried her most, though, were whether the wolves would be joining in on the lesson...

"Sorry about that, you alright?" Ariel asked, her voice neutral. She felt bad for the girl, but at the same time she didn't. There was a war of epic proportions going on outside the school's walls. Those with weak natures would not survive the coming onslaught.

I guess Darwin was right to some extent... she mused to herself as she couched closer to the ground in case the wolves decided to attack.

I guess Darwin was right to some extent... she mused to herself as she couched closer to the ground in case the wolves decided to attack.

"Like wh-" Cyll fell back as she was punched. Her wolves retreated quickly, giving a bestials growls. Enraged at the attack of their mind Master, they lunged at Ariel, but were suddenly pulled back as Cyll came to her senses and reigned them in. They released another growl before falling back.

"Yup.. Yeah... I'm okay." Cyll rubbed her jaw, still feeling the ache from the punch. She shook her head and tried to put on a comforting smile, though adrenalin was rushing through her system. It might have been a better idea for her to punch first.

"I wish you would have warned me... That could have gone... bad." She said, floating towards the other girl. Her Wolves hung behind her, still on alert. Perhaps responding to her subconscious on some level.

"Sorry about this but..." She lashed out with her fist, trying to limit herself. Her supernatural strength was great even with her human torso, so while for her it was a rather light punch, it had the sting of Ariels own punch. Then she floated back and gritted her teeth, willing her Wolves not to attack. The intensity of the command was great enough to cow them, making them close around Cyll.

"Okay... Now that, thats over with... What now?"

Lawn, Math Class

Calmly watching as the hounds snapped at her and then were restrained by, Ariel guessed at least, Cyll. When Cyll reassured her that she was alright, Ariel stood and walked back over to her, expecting the girl to return the favor immediately.

Ariel shrugged in response to her comment as she floated over. "If I'd taken the time to warn you, we wouldn't be half-done with this idiotic lesson yet." muttered Ariel, as the gap lessened between her and Cyll.

Ariel was quite certain that she would be able to hold her ground against the girl if it had come to violence. Her fingers flexed in anticipation should she need to summon her twin M1911s. She was glad to see that it wouldn't come to that as the wolves had been well-tamed by Cyll. Ariel steadied her breathing as she watched Cyll float within arm's length.

As the punch connected to her face, Ariel had to restrain herself from lashing out with her aura, clenching her fists as she dug her nails into her palms. Staggering backward a step, Ariel hissed in pain as she felt the throbbing in her cheek. Moving her jaw around, Ariel felt no other damage than what had been done to her cheek. Expending a little of her energy, the nephalem healed and expelled what pain she was experiencing.

"No worries," sighed Ariel, indifferently, as she began to observe the other students to see if they were done with the lesson yet. "I don't know, guess we wait. I hope we actually begin class though, this is ridiculously moronic."

Alem could just barely tell that he was probably just faking the pain. She most certainly was not. However that was a different matter entirely. She barely felt like she had done anything, but she assumed the body held back some power when trying to punch a friend. She thought for a moment. Nope, she just couldn't throw a punch for shit. And she was completely fine with that, even a little amused.

She let him take her arm and giggled, shrugging. "I promise I'm not that fragile, it just felt funny." She smiled and met his eyes. And then...she tried to resist doing it, she really did, but it was tempting. Like holding a bag of coins in front of a dragon, she wanted to swipe at the chance. But she had done it so many times before, him never noticing, what was the point of doing it now? Her conciousness ripped away from the idea, for now.

Alem shrugged it off and nudged him playfully, losing the distant look she had held before. She laughed. "Nothing." With a grin. "I'm just wondering if he's going to make you punch me too." She held her cheek and made a silly-looking face. "I think you're just a tad stronger than me, yeah?" She used that oppertunity to stop touching him. The urge went away, and she felt normal again. But like the sharp taste of blood in your mouth, she longer to find it again.

Sebastien notices her seemingly confused expression "You look like you're confused about where you are" He points to Mr.

Right after that, she heard something about punching her partner in the face. So, she looked Sebastien square in the eyes, drew her arm straight back...and punched him in the face. She felt kind of guilty for doing it as her fist connected with his nose because it was quite a satisfying feeling. After the fact, she looked around and said, "You're right, this is a weird class."[/quote

After nodding several times, he noticed the girl looking into his eyes. She's mine he thinks smugly. Then he hears the proctor mention punching they're partner in the the face. He sees Violet raise her arm and punch him straight in the nose. As he falls back one thought is going through his mind "I like this girl" and as he hits the ground "A lot"

He gets up slowly and looks Violet in the eyes "You know there could've been a better way to agree with me" Now pulling back his arm he punches her in the face, not very hard but enough to show he doesn't fuck around "I have to admit, this class is starting to grow on me"

You will complete it or you will be expelled from the Academy, the ramifications of which aren't exactly forgiving."

"I fail to see what this has to do with math." Amina said, turning to face Ralevon. "Don't we have combat classes for this stuff?" She realized she had stopped looking at Azrael. She didn't really want to punch anyone. She tried to avoid violence, since she generally had the urge to kill and eat everyone around her. She assumed that being punched and punching someone wouldn't turn her into a raving lunatic, of course, but she still didn't want to on principle.

"Here," Azrael said, crossing his arms behind his back and presenting his chin the the girl, "just get it over with." Bullets, blades, bombs, not much hurt him all that much, he'd checked, so Azrael figured a single punch wasn't exactly something to get hung up over, even if this was the strangest math class he'd attended in a while.

Cal glanced up at the other person and unintentionally intensified his freezing aura. He turned from the teacher and made eye contact with the taller... boy thing. Cal wasn't aware of what... whatever his name was.
'Sarkat?... that sounds right.'
Cal looked away before mumbling quietly to Sarkat, "Guess I gotta punch you... sorry if I hurt you."
He then proceeded to wind up and throw a punch right into the middle of Sarkat's face.

Karkat was rather surprised to find that the kid punched him right in the face after mumbling something inaudible. He hit hard, too. Surprisingly so. Well then. Guess there's only one thing for it. He wound up and delivered the hardest punch he could right into his face. It his him in the nose rather satisfyingly.

"Don't worry. I would never purposefully hurt you." Vizil said with a toothy smile, patting her on her shoulder and still looking down into her eyes. She tended to get that....odd look around him at times, it seemed. During sparring, training, or even class, she did. He didn't know why.

And he certainly didn't want to hit her. He accidentally did during practice before, and it made him feel bad beyond belief. She was smaller and....more delicate than him.

"Eh. I didn't mind it so much." She said jokingly. "Not nearly as bad as some of the things my brothers and sisters did to me." She then chuckled a little, her smile fading. "Lets just say there tended to be more blood… A lot more blood."

She paused for a few seconds, going back to those few years in her head. She shuddered slight, before smiling again. "If you don't mind me asking, what are you exactly?" She asked, wanting to determine if she was a demon, angel, human, new god or whatever, mostly to continue the conversation. "Sorry if the question is a bit forward or rude, you don't have to answer if you don't want to."

Having all the laws of nature at your control. Speaking of which, what do you do? I mean, you don't outwardly scream Demon, or Midnight or anything."
