So, to clarify:

Emperor dies: Imperial Court elects temporary regent until Caer Aard
Caer Aard: Lords of the realm choose heir, and if necessary, heir's regent/regency council

Would we choose an official single regent, then, or would the regency be led by a council, possibly with a foremost member who could be called regent? Or would the choosing of council vs single person be up to us?

Also, Caer Aard is definitely a separate place?

Yeah, this seems pretty good. And I'd suggest that the Lords of the Realm decide about this but that the Emperor may or may not have written some commandments for how this is to be done, sort of when electing a new pope.

Also, Caer Aard is definetely a separate place, it exists on the map and OP confirmed it. http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=310885&p=21765989&hilit=caer+aard#p21766925

Hmm, maybe some rules but only common, decency sort of ones.

And thanks.

Exactly how I'd envisioned it. We must make sure to make NDH see this.

Well, at least I've got an idea, then. :P

Did we have a timescale or anything?

Okay. So I'm working on a post. I know Agadar wants to meet my character, Lucian, who is Commander of the Blades. Should I focus on his POV or expand it a little wider to include his family in Sangreal? The death of the Emperor, while shocking in Sangreal, doesn't really have any effect as of yet on Sangreal, being a vassal of the dwarf clans of Dornduar.

I'm going to conclude the events directly following the emperor's death in the imperial capital before (for a time) moving the focus to Dornduar. I suppose you could do the same.

I'll follow your lead. Expect a post momentarily.

If you mean by people in the Magistratum, Lucian Shan'ara who is Commander of the Blades, than yes.

Ok, should the Lord High Steward call for some meeting of the Imperial Magistratum with regards to the death of the Emperor and so?

That would be the sensible thing to do, yeah. My character is already working on something similar.

So you do want a temporary regency? Why not then have the emperor have appointed one rather than let the court do it?

Emperor not expecting to die so young?
*shrug*
I'm not opposed to being able to have this bit of extra intrigue, after all.

Well, indeed. I would say that he would have a suggestion to a regent at this Caer Aard Gathering, some documents proving this with his own signature, along with the signature of the "Pope" of the Faith.

Nice post, but Dhonmulir isn't the High Patriarch of Dornduar. His older brother is.

EDIT: I'm also not entirely sure what tension you speak of.

You are a bit too far away to be arriving this early I'd say.

Indeed. We are still having things happen within hours after the emperor's death. Your guy won't be arriving for weeks to come.

I took a boat just a short while after the Emperor died and one of the posts said it was 4 days after the emperor died and that was a little while ago.
