Brief Description of your Economy: The Swedish economy is mostly based around Sweden's own domestic affairs. However, considerable amounts of iron, coal, and timber are exported to other European powers. This is perhaps Sweden's greatest trade enterprise, and however profitable it may be, it still does not compare to the trade enjoyed by more imperialistic European powers.

History:

Sweden is not as powerful as it could be. The Swedish Empire never existed, as a string of defeats did not allow Sweden to grow further from its cores in Sweden and Finland. This, however, meant that Sweden enjoyed a long period of growth and prosperity after being dismissed from the Kalmar Union, lasting almost two-hundred years under the wise leadership of the House of Oldenburg. In fact, Sweden took to being a 'vassal' of greater European Powers, remaining neutral in many of their conflicts and only participating in some of them in order to increase its relations with the aforementioned European powers. As a matter of fact, the Scanian Conflict of 1651 was the last time that war took place within true Swedish cores.

In 1815, Charles XIV rose to the throne with new ideas. He began securing trade and non-aggression agreements with many of the European powers, and thus secured Sweden's continued neutrality among the chaos that grew in Europe. Under his tutelage, infrastructure was developed to span the Swedish nation from upper Scania down to the reaches of Finnish Karelia. The world was advancing at an incredible pace, but then again, so was Sweden.

More recently, however, tensions have grown in the area around Scandinavia. And Sweden is still confined by the Danish navy in the Baltic. In defiance of the ideal, Denmark rather than Sweden is the ruler of the Baltic. However, the Danish Empire has grown considerably weak. Oscar I sits in the throne of Sweden, eager to commence a first period of imperialism. It is now the perfect time for the Swedes to strike once more and gain what is rightfully theirs - dominance over the Baltic through the unification of the Scandinavian people.
