Brief Explanation of Government: At this time, currently the Japanese government is still controlled by the Emperor of Japan however democratic reforms are under way and the Parliament of Japan becomes more and more democratic as time goes on. Although the military holds great influence, it has been rotting away as a result of its failure at conquering Taiwan. With the arrival of the Taishō period, the military has began to lose more power to the point that the civilian government does not need to depend on the armed forces' approval to survive (the political way, not meaning coups). However, the Ministry of War is still very unaccountable to the Civilian government and only accountable to the Emperor. This is something that the reformists are focusing more and more on as they would like all the Ministries to be accountable to the Civilian government and in turn the Civilian government be accountable to the Emperor.

Japan currently has a Parliament with a first-past-the-post system in each of its administrative regions. This has given the rise to three major national parties: Shogunate Faction, Nationalist Party, and the Socialist Party. The Shogunate Faction is currently in power and not too far behind the Nationalist Party is coming in for second - the Shogunate Faction controlled Japan for a long time until the Nationalist Party took over in the elections of 1900; their reign gave way to the Shogunate Faction once more in the elections of 1916.

Regionally, Japan is divided into administrative regions which are ruled by Governors. Although Governors have a certain degree of freedom n deciding the policies of their respective regions, the central government has a strong presence in regional politics. At the local level, there is a higher presence of more political parties. For instance, additionally to the three existing parties, a Socialist Party, a Communist Party, and a Fascist Parry exist. It goes without saying that the Japanese support a system where the utmost respect for elders is kept. The Japanese culture also tends to be extremely spiritual and proud of their nation. Victory is seen as both a great good and a great evil - victory can let you to become materialistic and over-confident, traits that are very damaging for the Japanese culture. Losing, although not seen as a good thing, it is believed that it encourages you to increase your efforts and achieve greater things than before. Experience and meritocracy are also important factors in the Japanese culture.

Religion: Mainly Shintoism, some Buddhism, and a very small percentage of Protestantism and Catholicism.

Army: Currently there are 850,000 active soldiers. The quality of the Japanese army is not yet to the standard of the European powers however it is greatly increasing thanks to the militaristic policy that the Shogunate Faction and the Nationalist Party have. The Japanese Army is well-equipped but still lacks of experience in respect to fighting against or with great powers. The Japanese Army is also trained in guerrilla tactics and are given a rigorous training in order to be exceptionally good at defending their homeland. Discipline is highly encouraged and desertion is seen as a dishonorable thing for the individual and his/her family. Considering the geographic factors of the nation, the army does not have a very large armored division.

Navy: The Japanese Navy is the most powerful navy in the Far East and in the Eastern Pacific (In other words, till Hawaii). It is equipped with the best materials, artifacts, ammunition, and technology, among others that the world can provide so far. Thanks to this, the Japanese Navy is able to project power in the Asia-Pacific region as well as protect the economic interests of the nation. Although not an European Navy, the Japanese Navy has been very indoctrinated with British naval tactics as well as Dutch naval tactics, which over time have been adapted, added, and improved (to suit the geographic factors) to the Japanese naval tactics.

Air force: Japan does not have a fighting air force as of right now. It has a small fleet of zeppelins and small airplanes (Buj said that airplanes weren't that advanced so I ma not sure how this would traduce to this case) tat is mainly focused in the surveillance and exploration of the Japanese territories. However, Japan will try to develop its own aviation program with hopes of improving the communication and transportation of the country.

The result was the Japanese Agency of Intelligence and Espionage (AIE). This agency was create soon after the conquer of the Korean peninsula.

The Japanese espionage capabilities are very impressive because of its long history of experience, tactics creation, cultural basis, and overall support from the government. Even though Japanese espionage is not as effective in Europe, it is very effective in Asia and the Pacific; in Latin America Japanese espionage is effective but not as much as in Asia.

In addition to espionage traits, the Japanese espionage capabilities also include assassination tactics and secret operations to gather intelligence from within the Japanese government (counterintelligence). The agency itself is still young in comparison to the ones of other countries, however it is no less effective than the other three before it.

Brief Description of your Economy: Thanks to the Meiji Restoration and the help of the British, the Japanese economy boomed with the creation of many factories in the southern portion of the country. Factories, mines, and shipyards encouraged the growth of cities and the development of an efficient road system (with a rail system that covers most of the country) and the spread of the telegram and telephone to the most populated regions of the country (this does not include the lines used to by the Ministry of the Interior). The economy is in dire need of a new propelling factor to produce a new era of high growth and high development. Additionally, the country needs a complete reform in the agricultural sector as the production of food has fallen sharply.

Financially, the country has a healthy and solid growing banking sector but its size still does not compere to European standards. The growth and investment in the country has provided room for the appearance of a solid number of banks (national, regional, and even local ones). The Tokyo Stock Market (founded in the 19th century) is very solid as market capitalization but, just like the banks, is not as large as the European ones. Notwithstanding, the Tokyo Stock Market is one of the largest in Asia and it holds one of the largest listings in Asia - with the list being mostly composed of Japanese companies.

In terms of growth, although it experienced high growth, in 1919 and currently in 1920 Japan's economy has shockingly stagnated. New initiatives, projects, programs, and reforms need to be created in order to encourage growth and bring a new golden age once more to Japan.
