I'm sure you are. But I believe that just because one can never achieve perfection, does not mean we can't strive to be something closer to it.
I may never be perfect, but I can still try to strive to be a better human being.

They're heavy as hell though. My father used to smith weapons as a hobby(he gets real bored, and picked up odd hobbies). His favorite sword was a bastard sword, maybe 5 feet? I'm a pretty fit man, and I couldn't swing it in full mail for more than an hour or so.

Loghain's host marches towards your city, your Bann. His army is led by Ser Seggallion, a grizzled veteran who will stop at nothing to plunder your land and rape your women. Your Bann flees, leaving behind those he deems worthless to die. I however do not deem you worthless. I deem you worthy to stand up and fight for your homeland! Protect your wives, your children, your land, and your country! Stand against this tyrant! If you have the heart to stand forth, proceed to the guardhouse, the captain will inspect you. Stand with me Sentinel Ford!Bann Emmittyn Ryes, Knight of Ferelden, and Bann of Greenstone
Wow, why would Loghain be out this far? No matter what, he's an Orlesian sympathizer.

The bastard sword is a pretty good weapon, it puts emphasis on strength in swing. The original design of the weapon was around 4 feet for blade length, sharp on both ends of the sword, and the hilt was usually at least a foot in length as the weapon was meant to be used in both hands.
But that's all simple info I'm sure you already knew. I would go for smaller weapons that can be held in one hand, such as rapiers. Mostly because I would like to keep the other hand free unless it's needed for strength.

Rapiers, while battle practical, I view more as a dueling weapon.

I may have been playing the wrong game, but wasn't Loghain anything BUT an Orlesian sympathizer. Last I checked, he hated Orlais.

I think my character's thoughts are different than the reality as she merely sees the action him abandoning King Cailan at Ostagar as a justification for such. In reality, Loghain was power hungry and did that to usurp the throne. Said detail has been edited in as to explain the reasoning in the Orlesian rogue's mind.

They are, mostly due to how they are meant to thrust into a target, and never swung. This creates a situation if you are against two or more as you are going to have to parry each and ever one's attacks and can only attack one at a time, as you have to thrust and can't swing at multiple at a time.
However, they are also light and gives you the ability to use your other hand for another weapon or item that could help you. Such as a dagger or another sword.
I would prefer a short sword to anything like a bastard sword or a rapier though. The cutlass or the Cinquedea are a few that I would take.

For me it would depend entirely on situation. If I were fighting an armored foot knight I would want a blunt weapon. If against lightly armored foes, I would use either a bastard or a longsword.
It also depends on the time period I guess too. If I'm charging into a line of muskets, I would want a musket with a bayonet, not a rapier.

I think that for the sake of the RP, the Warden finds the Sacred Ashes.

Most of the swords I own are cheap display weapons but I have a sword that was made special for me at a medieval fair (I was making pretty good money at the time). It's a longsword (bastard sword) patterned after a crusader style broadsword. They made the blade somewhat longer than 4 feet because I'm pretty tall and the base is almost 4 inches wide at the bottom, the fuller runs up 3 1/2 feet on the blade and is oval shaped, it has a crescent shaped cross guard, the handle is covered in cherry wood and wrapped in leather, an 8 inch long two handed grip, and a standard pommel. It's made of Damascus steel so it can bend 6 to 8 inches and snap back into shape. It also has a scabbard also made of steel and cherry wood and came with a custom made frog style harness to fit me at the time it was made.

Damascus steel, eh? Last time I checked, they kinda forgot the technique to make it a little while back. And these days, it's essentially just guesswork at the production techniques.![]()
Could be wrong, mind you.
