But this dangerous world is changing. Slowly but surely, this world is changing. The snows come a bit later, the summer stays for longer and melts more of the ice and snow. As the world changes, so does humanity. This slow warming will not just provide more ways of gathering food, or expand hunting lands, the slow warming of the globe will start a revolution - Agriculture - that will allow humanity to settle, grow from village to town to city all the while expanding their minds as well. The slow warming of the globe will allow humanity to progress beyond simple tribes and start testing their ideas, but the true test - the Test of Time - has already begun, and though many groups will fail this test and be forgotten, some lucky few will pass this test, and lead humanity not only across this globe, but across the stars.
Ages and You
As this RP is supposed to be a simulation of the entirety of Human History - past, present, and future - we will need a way to keep track of what era of human history we are in, to keep this RP fair and realistic. So, I have taken the liberty of dividing up history into Ages, in which there is a limit on how advanced a civilization can get, how far they can expand, and what actions that they can take against other civilizations. Each age will have it's own thread, and it's own years per (real life) day (YPD) measure. So, without further ado, the ages, from Earliest to Latest.
Stone Age - 10,000 BCE to 5,000 BCE; 1000 YPD
-In the Stone Age: Agriculture is discovered, Humanity transitions to settled villages, Domestication of animals begins, as does early boat building. Bows are developed, and the first basic militaries develop. Early Polytheism is practiced.
The Metal Ages - 5,000 BCE to 500 BCE; 500 YPD
-In the The Metal Ages: Metallurgy is both discovered and progresses to the common use of iron weapon and tools in this era. Boats progress to simple galleys. Villages become cities, and from these cities both the first true armies and the first true empires issue. Religion progress from simple systems of worship to full-blown pantheons of gods with priests and priestesses.
The Classical Age - 500 BCE to 1000 CE; 100 YPD
-In the The Classical Age: Shipbuilding technology advances to where ocean-going oar-powered ships are common. Early experiments in steel are beginning, and armor has advanced as well. Weapons meant to break down city walls and defend city walls are first made. The Arts come into official existence now, and writing is standard in educated classes. Monotheist religions develop and spread.
The Middle Age - 1000 CE to 1500 CE; 50 YPD
-In the The Middle Age: The technologies of the wheelbarrow, windmill, Crop-rotation, steel metallurgy and gunpowder develop. Oar-driven ships are largely replaced by sail-driven ships, which can go faster and farther. Monotheism continues to spread. At the end of the period, the two separate continents make first contact.
The Age of Sail - 1500 CE to 1700 CE; 5 YPD
-In the The Age of Sail: Contact between the two separate continents, the Americas and Afro-Eurasia, has been made and colonization can begin. Ships grow larger to sail across the oceans of the world. Gunpowder take prominence over steel, and the musket and rifle are both developed. Absolute Monarchies are established, as are the Constitutional Republic and Monarchies.
The Age of Industry - 1700 CE to 1900 CE; 5 YPD
-In the The Age of Industry: Factories are built and perfected, as are fossil fuel power sources. Machinery becomes much more advanced, with automatic reapers to automobiles all being invented. Gunpowder weapons are perfected and diversified, with both the bolt action rifle and machine gun being developed. Empires expand to feed their growing industries, creating new colonies.
The Age of Imperialism - 1900 CE to 1950 CE; 5 YPD
-In the The Age of Imperialism: The industrialization of the past comes to a head, and several massive empires all exist. Cavalry is phased out in favor of newly developed armor. Anti-armor weapons are developed. The Airplane is invented, weaponized, and perfected all in this time period. The end of the period sees the Jet engine developed. The Period also sees the development of the computer.
The Modern Age- 1950 CE to 2020 CE 1 YPD
-In the The Modern Age: Modern technology is invented and perfected, the computer becomes essential to life and the internet is invented. Decolonization takes place on a large scale. Development of space technology occurs.
The Future Age - 2020 onward. 1 YPD
In the The Future Age, the world is yours to control fully, because I cannot tell the future. Just keep it realistic![/spoiler]
