But logically Spain, France, and well anything else that is Catholic (since they are all kingdoms keep in mind) should be rather pissed.

France is actually. If the Pope is hostage of the Italian government, the Italians will pay. And will pay with more than pasta. >:(

That's exactly why.

I presume at least a noticable portion of Catholics would like an independent Papal State similar to the modern Vatican.

Bam, independence. Except he's still under the control of the Italian government.

It's irritating, is what it is.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what Garwall does to England.

I remember watching some show where they had papal elections and, when the English Cardinal was going to be elected, someone said, "We had an English pope once... It was horrible."

I don't know... I thought that was funny

What did Napoleon think he was?

There's your answer as to what he was.

"The Mediterranean island of Corsica had come under French jurisdiction shortly before Napoleon’s birth in 1769. Its dramatic landscape and distinctive culture, characterised by strong family ties and volatile feuds, are often held to have shaped Napoleon’s nature and values. Sent to school in France at the age of eight on a scholarship for the sons of impoverished noble families, he was teased for his Corsican accent and poor grasp of French, and seems to have gained a reputation as brusque and aloof. Although in later life he would insist that he considered himself French rather than Corsican, the young Napoleone Buonaparte, as he spelled his name until 1796, clung to his roots: he continued to see himself as Corsican, was hostile to French rule in Corsica, and sought involvement in Corsican politics. It was, however, Corsican politics that forced Napoleon and his family to flee to France in 1793. The culture that had shaped his youth and marked him as an outsider in France now cast him off, throwing into question his identity and his place in the world. That he found one is due at least partly to his zeal for knowledge."

There. Are we done? He saw himself as French and as Corsican (not Italian, Corsican). Issue is over.

Corsicans are Italian, they speak a Dialect of Italian, and their culture is Italian.

Ok, dude, really stop. Issue is over. He saw himself as French and Corsican, he never mention Italy. Just let it go. Because a region has a culture and language similar to another country, it does not make that region automatically part of the country.

Napoleon sees himself as French and Corsican, now let him rest in Peace and move on. If you see him as Italian, it is your choice, as far as I am concerned most of the World (and even himself) do not.

By the time it's finished, you'll need to rename it the Триумфальная арка, for it will belong to Mother Russia...
