Maybe they will send over a shuttle packed with troops SPACE MARINES to overthrow your regime once the international treaty on space proliferation is repealed... but that will take some time.

Well, you would have control over who gets to do more trade and who doesn't... Also corps can grow very powerful, and I don't want 1 person to control 2 powerful factions at the same time... unless everyone was ok with that.
