So I am guessing we are going 2 weeks per day now( by what the poll has shown)?

That's rather useless.
Besides a little random fluctuation, the prices depend on:

Uranium and Hydrocarbons, charged fuel cells and some yet to be discovered resources - Energy Demand on earth vs supply from earth and the colonies (also uncharged fuel cells). Enough supply can make earth's economy prosper. Selling Rare metals to earth also influence improve energy supply a little.

Common metals are always

Colonist used them, I thought it was action points or are they the same?

Maybe I was wrong, but I think there have been a few deposits found in the system though I don't have the sector map.
