But just before I start, three things; Is the freighter fuelled by Japan, how much does a barracks costs and can I assume that the 1000 colonists and colony module only take up four spots for the first run? (as they can fit on a shuttle)

You can start in turn 28 when earth was still intact.

When you move your units into an enemy sector, battle will begin.
You can RP it regularly (using the units you have) and if you somehow manage to agree on the results, than those results will be accepted. If not, than we will use the battle mechanics to calculate the results.

OP, I am still confused on how to write out my posts.

How exactly do action points and energy work, and how does mining work? The explanations in the opening post are still confusing to me.

You might want to settle on one of the unoccupied moons, then send miners to Ignis; several are unexplored, and far less hazardous than the techtonically active Ignis.
