You don't salute in a combat zone , nor do you show any signs of who the officer is. Makes them a target for Snipers. You usually just respond with 'Sir ______ ' and ask your question. You don't want to give any indication who the commanding officer is.

That's kinda the angle i'm going for , the rest of the squad views Ben as a merciless killer but i'm trying to give people a little different view as to what happened with throwing in the Flashbacks which hopefully some of you will piece together and the prayers.

Well , Locust are excavation equipment , ONI typically likes to bury their important things in dark scary places ( like my ex-girlfriend ). So it is entirely possible that if the Covies are at the ONI building there will be Locust present as they try and excavate the building so they can get into it easily. At least that's what id assume. Again i'm just speculating here.
