Openly gay with a husband and the little girls. Very popular family with the liberal press.

Doesn't hurt that he's photogenic. ;)

Oh well. It'll get shot down in the Senate, so...

Not too many republicans need to stray.

Anyone who claims to be a libertarian should support it, the Whip would have to fight like hell, who is also me and if Christie fights gay marriage he can lose New Jersey.

Not going to be quite as easy as that. Not all libertarians will support it (especially if Brent makes the 'leave it to the states' argument), nor will all Democrats support it -- especially those from the blue states. Christie can simply do the same thing and throw up his hands and say "for the states to decide! Fight the overreaching government meddlin' in marriage!"

It'd be close, but not going to pass.

From an OOC point of view, there's only two of you.

I presume more will be RPed by the OPs (with voting and such) in some things though.

I know it doesn't stand a chance of passing, it's more of a statement.

The law Fletcher is proposing is actually giving Federal recognition to individual choices the states make, whether the state has it legal or illegal. Or so I believe.

Andrews is also weary about pulling it to a federal level because it risks the progress made in individual states.

Quit meddlin' in marriage! Leave it to the states! Quit meddlin' in marriage! Leave it to the states! Quit meddlin' in marriage! Leave it to the states!

Repeat ad nauseam.

The people and states will decide what they want; the government should make no law on the issue. *ignores all the laws it already has made on marriage*

Can we save the debate for when the bill is actually presented to the floor?

So some fat jokes and prayer objections are being reported instead of the shooting in Tucson? If the Media can be so easily distracted then this only makes my job easier.
