Yes you may though your ultimate liege would still be the King. It would be land granted to your character's father for some reason perhaps. Perhaps the land may be along the Sea of Azisharan near the borders of the Kingdom.

Oh I just meant familially, but no vassalage to a major house is nice too. I'll see about an app.

I'm interested, although I still can't see my place into this. I may need some more info on the knights and how they could play around. I would like to play a character with desires of power with money and intrigue to back him most.

A Baron or Baroness of House Ranevair would probably be the best fit for you.

The Knights are more of a religious order similar to the Knights Templar though probably even less secular. There may or may not be a "Holy War" venturing into the desert regions. In the Royal Palace they have a small more ceremonial Royal Chapterhouse, and an Honor Guard of the Knights participate in some ceremonies such as escorting the King in some religious ceremonies of the Church of the Triad. They also prevent travel to the southern deserts as it is religiously forbidden and against the laws of the Kingdom to travel south (for various reasons that will be revealed later).
