History: Zimbabwe was founded in the late 12th Century, as a number of tribes came together as the Kingdom of Zimbabwe. The capital of the Kingdom was made Great Zimbabwe, its great towers an ideal spot for the head of the nation. In the following centuries, Zimbabwe became very wealthy from the copper and ivory produced in it's middle provinces.

In the 1530's, the Kingdom of Zimbabwe expanded outwards into Africa, conquering much of the Mozambique areas. Zimbabwe expanded north into Tanzinia in the 1570's, accessing the Indian Ocean. From there the Kingdom annexed Zanzibar, bringing it under Zimbabwean rule.In 1642, Zimbabwe set Southern Africa into its sights, as the King wished to control more of that area. The Zimbabwean Army ventured into Southern Africa, but encountered the Mthethwa Paramountcy, which was another strong African state. Zimbabwe went to war with the Mthethwa's, but lost to their fierce ways of fighting, and thus were limited to the areas outside of Southern Africa.

In the 18th Century, Zimbabwe came in contact with European powers. Men from Venice, a nation far away in Europe, colonized the coastlines south of Zimbabwe. And this wasn't the only occurrence. All around the continent, various European powers began to conquer the African coastlines. And soon the larger, more nations of Africa began to collapse, with their coastlines taken from them (and thus their contact with the outside world cut off). Now Zimbabwe stands as one of the last major kingdoms in Africa.
