The Trolls and Imps might seem OP but the only real thing they do is gather stolen loot, build armour and small things things and dig our tunnels, rarely if ever will I dig a cavern and I have no reason too.

Also my Champions?

I think I can cover the Forgotten winter god...

I was thinking a goddess, actually, since I think Oros and Levish Tezat are both sorta male.

And, again, dark, but not really evil. Because winter isn't evil any more than the sea (Oros) is evil. Winter can be harsh, but it isn't always. It's a time of contraction, of sleep, of stories by the fire. Of beautiful night sky.

Who said the god was evil? she is just neutral in the conflict of deities.

There's a difference between hating a deity and thinking his followers are corrupt, and thinking that they're cold blooded child-killers.

The first is reasonable. The second really isn't.

IRL I get annoyed when Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormon missionaries come to my door. I oppose many things their religion stands for and I think that the organization of the latter likely has some corruption.

I don't think either are flat-out evil or remorseless child-murderers. Because that's just silly.

Naturally. Possibly semi-retired from deity-hood since she's largely forgotten in most of the world.

I don't think it's that big a deal. As a simple peasant who suffered nothing but cruelty by the hands of those who served Mauros and his mind being corrupted by a Chaos god he's not going to really be thinking about these things too hard especially when he won't even know he lost a son just that he vaguely feels like there was something that was important to him that was destroyed in the town. The Lich not looking too hard at the circles and assuming them an attack on the village will think it was the servants of Mauro and when he sees his son again on the battle field everything will click. I'm sure that none of the soldiers will actually mention the town by name and what are the odds the Lich will hear the conversation of common soldiers anyway?

The Possessed Armours of the Dark Champions:

Klast (http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/075/0/b/lord_of_chaos_by_daemon_patriarch-d4swrj5.jpg)
Klast was an honourable Paladin whom served Mauro faithfully for several decades, becoming lord of a grand city he lead several forces into the lands of his foes, slaughtering them alongside his knight core, however for since they had been crusading for a decade the men had grown tired and hateful of their leader who kept pressing on, in secret they plotted against him and a band of knights still very much loyal to their liege, and upon the battlefield facing off against a rival lord of another city his soldiers turned on him, the battle was a long and tiresome one as Klast and his loyalists slaughtered the traitors and enemy alike.

However he was abandon by Mauro and his priests whom had crusaded with him, with all hope shattered he fell in battle, alongside all but two of his knights... However after the battle they had dragged their lords corpse to the Keeper, begging to bring him back and pledging loyalty and honour to him and his blood line. With an agreement set in blood Klast was bought back and turned away from the path of all that was good and holy, becoming an avatar of darkness...

Janic (http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/1879/vkwip2.jpg)

Janic grew up in a great land of volcanic rock and magic, where a high council of magii ruled over the people with a core of Magma Knights, being clad in armour of semi molten rock and wielding weapons of great power, Janic rose through the ranks when he came of age, gradually and with time, on the sixteenth year of his service as a Knight captain he fouled a plot by Magii whom plotted to take over the realm, however his efforts went unfavoured and questioned, the Magii was a swindler and favourite of the others thus explaining his popularity... With his title in ruins and a small band of Knights Janic left the realm, anger seething and temper flared, he and his knight core then instigated a civil war, the final battle of which saw Janic's death and dispersion, where which his minions and Knights cast curses and spells upon themselves to live forever, undying by natural means. However Janic's soul was bound to the molten armour that would become his body.

Vorbuch (http://oi62.tinypic.com/2zqu06o.jpg)

Vorbuch grew up in the far northlands over the oceans, a giant of a man whom defended his tribe with sheer might from Orcs and Snow Elves, of course his descent into darkness is the least tragic, with the passing of spring, one of two seasons this far north, Winter came once again enshrouding the land in heavy snow and ice, during these periods the snow Elves came out to hunt near constantly, the tribe retreated into a series of caves and caverns while under siege from elven hordes to the deep dark of the Earth...

Down in the dark the tribe became trapped, cornered into a room that served as an alter to a god of forgotten times, whispers and voices began to enter his mind, telling him to pick up the giant war axe on the alter, moving forward he did as the voice asked and claimed it as his own, god and man entwined in a bargain of worship and blessings, Slaughtering the Elves the tribe began worshipping the now dubbed
"Forgotten God" or "She of the cold winds" and built a civilization under the mountain. Shortly after Vorbuch was blessed with the armour he currently wore and over the period of several hundred years faded to dust in his armour, but soul and metal bonded as one even as his people faded around him... found centuries later by the twenty third Keeper, and eschewed into service for eternity.

Baltarc (http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/275/e/1/knight_by_egakuro-d5gk1kp.jpg)

Baltarc is a true tyrant, lording over an ancient land that even he has forgotten the name of when alive he was an all powerful lord, his tale is a fairly tragic one. When on a campaign of conquest he came across a small conclave of Elven mages whom apparently could read the future, he inquired forth to practise their skills on his fate and fortune. None of them would accept him, all but one. An older Elven maiden whom took a liking to the tyrant, seeing good in his soul.

She went to his personal tent guarded by the absolute most loyal soldiers and read what would transpire, revealing he was to be killed by one whom would love him and he love her in return... however while this happened several dozen soldiers raided the elven encampment, slaughtering them all for defying their lord, unaware of this the two beings in that tent shared playful words which soon turned to something else...
When morning came they were shocked to find the encampment burning, all evidence pointed to Baltarcs enemy which was set up by the soldiers.

He continued his campaign with this Elven maiden by his side, falling ever deeper for each other as her skills helped him continue on this long war. a year later they were wed and the kingdom became less opressive, cheerful and free! everyone loved their former tyrant king as one of pure gold and the seer who turned stone to love. However the Maiden looked into spells of looking into the past, and saw what his soldiers committed to her people! seething with rage she took his longsword and pierced him though the chest with it and pinned him to the bed, before he fadded into death he felt her tear out his heart with her bare hands, a look of questioning on his features.

He awoke buried in a crypt, his armour being the cold skin he now wore, his soul bound to it in anger and by rituals of a personality cult, slaughtering them he used their souls to bring forth a pact with several demons, a burning quest to find out, what had he done wrong?

Tell me what you guys think of their back stories? I plan for them to play a part in the IC.

Mini Factions App-

Faction name:
The Legionnate.

Faction Leader:
Jon Ryke
Soldier types:
5 Captains - The Captains are military commanders. Each Captain has their own horse, unlike the rest of the military personnel. During battles, the Captains are either leading the assault, or sitting behind the main force planning out what they are going to do next. When not marching/ making preparations for war, the Captains watch over the soldiers, ensuring their safety and loyalty.

100 Men-at-arms - The basic foot soldier of The Legionnate. Usually armed with short swords and shields, if available. Higher ranking Men-at-arms often carry long swords to signify their ranking in the military.

15 Longbow men - The basic archer of the Legionnate. Most of the Longbow men are not very well trained, and are essentially peasants with bows. If there is enough swords available, the Longbow men will receive a short sword.

~100 peasants - The peasants who reside in the town that the Legionnate has made their home. The peasants look at Jon Ryke as their lord. They just do their day-to-day jobs, and have no direct impact on the military.
Faction Bio:
The Legionnate are led by Jon Ryke. He is often called the Lord Protector by his men. All of the soldiers in the Legionnate and all of the peasants that reside in the Rykefort are human. This is not particularly done out of complete hatred by the Legionnate, but by the want to keep the human blood pure in the Rykefort. The Legionnate are almost just organized raiders. Lord Protector Jon Ryke is sworn to the Overlord. Religion has very little influence on the daily lifes of the Legionnate and the peasants of Rykefort. They usually just try to live day-to-day, performing the activites they need to to stay alive. The soldiers and peasants are rather loyal to the Lord Protector.

Character App-
Character Name:
Jon Ryke
Appearance:
(Kinda big image, sorry.)
Image

Equipment:
The Bastard Sword - In between a Long Sword and a Greatsword, capable of being wielded one handed or two handed. As of yet, The Lord Protector has not named it. It is a relatively new sword, the sword has yet to taste the blood of another being.

Basic Mail - Very basic chainmail, nothing special about it.

Black Cloak - A long black cloak, with a hood to cover his head during rainy days.
Skills:
A very skilled swordsman. The Lord Protector knows how to stay on a horse, but is far from an expert rider.
Backstory:
The Lord Protector Jon Ryke was born into a band of raiders, and was taught how to survive by them. The Band had raised him, and they stuck together for the most part. One day, as the Band was approaching a small town, they had decided to ransack it. During the ransack, a few of the Band had thought about simply taking over the town, and calling it their home. In this endeavor, is where the Lord Protector Jon Ryke had taken the lead. The Lord Protector easily took over, and he treated the population of the town fairly, which secured his position. There are only a few of The Band who remain, they hold all of the Captain ranks.
RP examples:
None on the NS forums.
Anything else we should know?:
Not that I can think of.

I am unsure if you mean to say that this is a bit sci-fi and not of the fantasy genre, or that I, the OOC player, am crazy and that this is not all fictional madness.

In regards to the former: Character mostly from from a scifi piece of media, not anything actually scifi here. The closest thing to scifi here is a spinning ax, and that's closer to magitek. Certainly less advanced than the cannon that Davios is lugging around. In regards to the latter: I have no mental conditions according to my doctors, not even ADD. Licensed professionals. So I wouldn't say I'm a hallucinating lunatic afflicted with MPD just yet.

If you don't want to partake in Mad Dog silliness, I'm fine with that though. I'm just not entirely sure what the meaning of your words were in that post, though.

Well, maybe "good guy" is a misnomer, but good to know they are still recruiting. :D

Also is there a more up-to-date list of factions and characters? I would like to see if my idea has been used or not.

Oh, don't worry. I jokingly noted that, if you RP a character like Mad Dog so well, your mental health is in question. Jokingly, of course. I know you are at least somewhat sane. I do fear for my life near you, though.

Well, maybe "good guy" is a misnomer, but good to know they are still recruiting. :D

Also is there a more up-to-date list of factions and characters? I would like to see if my idea has been used or not.

Do you hear the posters sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the short OP
that won't be seen again!

When the mods find this OP
Then this thread will be no more,
But the song will be sung again
When another comes!

OP, do you know the way?
Know the way to fix your post?
Just add details and sources to spark
Debate on these forums.

Otherwise this thread is doomed
Doomed to death by modly wrath
NSG will pick up and move on
'Till another comes!

Character Name: Khünbish, the Bog Witch
Appearance: Weeaboo warning.
Equipment: The Bog Witch is often seen with a crude, long spear, alongside a hunting knife for hunting or execution. Numerous bags of poison and medicines can be seen hanging from her waist and the handle of the spear for her entertainment and "recruitment" of new followers. Apart from trophies gained from some of her wealthier victims, she usually wear only simple garments made of animal (and sometimes human) skin or leather, revealing her bewitching body and magical runes on her smooth, if cold skin.
Skills:
  • Soul-draining
The first and foremost power the Bog Witch has is the ability to command the Spirits of the Bog to drain the soul from a still-living victim being sunk into a bog. While the soul is either destroyed and converted into magical energy to empower her, or merge with the numerous souls that powered such machinery, the soulless body will be transformed into a shadow of itself. Its skin is replaced by something akin to leather, and all living functions are replaced by the Bog Witch's magic. Soon, the mummified body will emerged from the bog as a puppet of her for all eternity until either entity is destroyed.
While the Spirits of the Bog originally inhabited in the bog that killed Khünbish, all peatlands and swamps are said to be connected incorporeally, meaning that while it cannot be used as a method of transport, she can use any swamp (despite her nickname) for such ritual.
  • Poison Brewing
Like other members of her village, Khünbish knew of the skill of making poison from seemingly innocent fauna and flora surrounding her settlement. Now as the Bog Witch, she has a lot more samples and subjects to try out various new combination of poisons. As she can only make soulless slaves out of living victims, she excels in brewing fast-acting, contact-based poisons that paralyses her victims for her rituals or simple amusement.
  • Wilderness Survival
Another skill inherited from Khünbish, the Bog Witch knows well enough about the wilderness to survive on her own, even if her army of soulless servants are absent for whatever reasons. Some say she is even capable of gathering enough foodstuff and medicine to help others to survive, but her disposition makes it extremely unlikely even if she has such ability.
  • Poison Immunity
Being technically undead, the Bog Witch's bodily function is no longer necessary to bound her soul in the mortal realm, meaning that poison that relies on the cessation of bodily function to kill will be only minor inconvenience to her. However, poison that relies on physical or magic damage will still have its usual effects.
This ability extends to her bog creations as well, as they are very similar in bodily function, or lack thereof.
  • Darkvision
The Bog Witch's psychic link with the Spirits of the Bog, as well as her bodily transformation granted her the ability to see with only little bit of night. This, combined with her experience as a hunter-gatherer, allows her to be a fearsome predator in the night, especially in her native forest and swampland.
Backstory:
Khünbish was born to be different, as she had always been told.

Since she was first aware of the reality that surrounded her and her tiny village, though, it appeared to be only a white lie for children without any notable talents. She did not hail from any notable parentage, or possess remarkable skills in either hunting or gathering. While she might be somewhat attractive as far as the villagers were concerned, it seemed that she was destined for a peaceful, if normal life.

However, as she grew older, something strange began to happen around - or more accurately, on her. At first, she could only see twisting, incorporeal beings living among unsuspected mortals, but soon, it became clear to her that these beings were more than mere observers. They were manipulating the world. From minor misfortune like a broken pot, to crippling tragedies like floods and storms that took away so many lives, these beings from the void weaved the threads of fate for unknown reasons, at the expense of everything in the world, including those who she cared and loved.

Alarmed, she started to warn people from misfortunes and guide them to luck when she could see a way through such "veil". However, perhaps because of her interference, what appeared to be insights from a child soon became frightfully accurate omen. Her family tried to keep her quiet despite her insistence, but the words of a blooming psychic soon reached the ears of the ruling elders.

Tales that had been passing from mouth to ear for countless generations suggest that such a gifted child would not be tolerated, for gods alone had the ability and authority to change one's fate. As such, she could not be anything but a tool of the gods, accidentally released into the mortal realm and thus had to be returned to the gods before they lay waste to the people for their blasphemy.

Bound by her parents under the order of the elders, Khünbish was thrown into a nearby bog, a revered place for the villagers as the gateway between the mortal realm and the world beyond. Despite her desperate resistance, her body was soon consumed by the dark mud entirely. Relieved, the villagers left the bog and returned to their normal life. However, her story had just begun.

The vast darkness that encompassed her did not, as she thought, relieve her soul from mortal coil and return it to the relevant god. Instead, her fleeting conscious could hear an almost inaudible voice, echoing directly inside her young body.

She knew it was their voice. Not only their voice, but also the voice of numerous souls who had been trapped deep beneath the peatland since time immemorial. Despite what the elders believed as a portal between realms, the unfathomable darkness trapped these souls here, transmuting them into something else. Khünbish, its latest victim, was among the first who had the power to communicate with them and - more importantly - harvest some of their power.

How blind they are, for pretending to know so much yet actually know so little? The voices whispered, as they illuminated a way for young Khünbish, transforming her body to harness the vast power of the bog.

How shameful they are, for turning their backs on you when you are most needed? Even after you have done so many for them? The voices questioned, as they empowered her feeble soul with their own power.

How weak they are, for being driven by fear and fear alone? The voices ridiculed, as they opened the vengeful eyes of the girl that was killed by her very own people.

You are born to be different, as you are always told. The voices concluded, as the new Khünbish rose from the bog into a new life. No longer was she Khünbish, the feared psychic girl of a mundane family, but the Bog Witch, a powerful entity who can - and will - manipulate life and death through the power of the Spirits of the Bogs, just like what the elders claimed themselves to be.

As her body was transformed into a bewitching beauty, the instructions to harvest the power of the bog was burned into her mind. With little practice, she revived the soulless bodies had been dormant in the time abyss that was the bog. Controlling them like a puppeteer to her favourite toy, the soulless army marched back to the village and laid waste to it. A combination of fearless, leather-clad walkers and some forest poison of her own, she managed to capture everyone in the village alive.

Such is the true face of mortals: feeble, cowardly, backstabbing. Useful only as servitude and amusement for someone greater than them. Such as you. One by one, the villagers were bound in the same way little Khünbish was, and slowly lowered into the bottomless bog as the others watched in horror. The spirits were amused by either the irony, or the delicious souls that were struggling for their own survival. The souls were forcefully drained and transformed into her growing power, and the soulless bodies were quickly turned into humanoid bags of leathers, ready for the Bog Witch to command.

Once the last bodies - her parents - were transformed, the Bog Witch dismantled the entire village and, after doing the same to several nearby villages, constructed a temple dedicated to the only worthy entity in the world - herself. Reigning in her residence above the bog, she enjoyed the undying service of her soulless servants, as well as any fun she could have with those who were foolish enough to wander into the cursed woods and weak enough to be captured.

Khünbish was born to be different, as she had always been told.

RP examples:Anything else we should know?: She is not the friendliest person in the world. Pissing her off is easy, but so is satisfying her. If you do not want to be forced to fight her and her army, remember that she cares and only cares about herself, and has a rather short fuse.

Faction name: The Bog Witch's Horde
Faction Leader: Khünbish, the Bog Witch
Soldier types:
  • Bog Beast ×4
Towering beasts that rival small houses in size, Bog Beasts are the heavy-lifters of the Witch's horde. Reinvigorated from large beasts who were lost in swamps, these beasts are now tasked by the Witch to carry her and everything she needed during travels and raids. The Bog Witch often lives on the back of the largest Bog Beast, inside a small hut that was built on its back, granting her the best experience during the travel and raid.
Armed with nothing but their leather-like thick skin and sheer momentum, Bog Beasts are often used to either assault fortified position or simply crush badly-defended enemy formations for the smaller bog corpses.
  • Bog Wight ×20
Even with the empowerment from the Spirits of the Bog, the Bog Witch cannot command all her mindless servants at once effectively. As such, she granted some of her powers to beings known as the Bog Wights. Selected from her potential victims who had demonstrated enough will to survive to please the Bog Witch, these individuals are partially transformed by the Bog Witch into a lesser being of herself. Like the Witch, Bog Wights are capable of create soulless bog mummies from any swamps, although at a slower rate, as well as the ability to command up to 30 soulless bodies for meaningful tasks, or 50 for extremely simple tasks like walking or standing.
Bog Wights retain all their living memories and knowledge, and are technically alive to a certain extent. However, it is said that the maddening voices of the spirits and the Witch herself will slowly corrupt their sanity and mind, slowly turning them into either mindless bodies or mad revenants without salvation. The lack of job security under the Bog Witch, though, makes it a rare condition.
Bog Wights' powers are solely sustained by the Bog Witch, who can presumably revoke them if she wishes so, making rebellions difficult. Some believes that Bog Wights who have lost their powers will become a slightly more intelligent revenants under the right preservation, but such as rare as the Bog Witch has a habit of killing depowered Bog Wights out of safety or simple amusement.
Bog Wights are often armed with bows and ritual knifes. They rarely stay at the front line, instead relying on the Soulless to provide protection, meaning their leather armour are suffice for usual defense from projectiles.
  • Headhunters ×10
Despite their name, Headhunters rarely, if ever, decapitate their targets. Instead, they are created specifically by the Bog Witch to bring particular targets of her desire before her alive. Similar to Bog Wights in the sense of partially-transformed bog beings with autonomy, Headhunters traded the ability to command or create multiple Soulless in exchange of a more aggressive set of powers. Blessed with the ability to command three to five Soulless at most, Headhunters often rely on its physical prowess to function, such as its lack of pain and some fear-induced physical conditions. The lack of vital signs also provided valuable advantages in prolonged hiding. Once they succeed in capturing their targets, or are discovered, their enhanced bodies are capable of brief, but superhuman strength and fortitude for their missions.
Headhunters are often armed with a variety of poison brewed by the Bog Witch by bags hung around their belts, with a special knife designed to inject and spread whatever poison coated on its groove. While it can be used to assassinate targets, they are most useful in quickly incapacitating (or dominating, in the case of weak-willed individuals) targets to be brought back to the Bog Witch's realm. On top of their leather-like skin, they also wear reinforced, skin-tight leather garments (made of Soulless' skin, as rumours suggested) for additional protection.
  • Soulless ×400
Bodies of victims whose souls were forcefully drained in bogland will be transformed into mummies. While their internal organs are preserved at remarkable condition, not a trace of life could be found within the leather-like skin. Powered by the magical power of the spirits and commanded by either the Bog Witch or her Wight servants, these soulless bodies are fearless, expendable mooks whose eternal fate is to serve and entertain the Bog Witch.
Soulless are usually armed with simple sticks or rods coated with Bog Witch's paralysing poison to capture victims for their mistress. They are sometimes armed with crude wooden shields that offer minimal protection, and are generally weak in combat, relying on their numbers to overwhelm their foes.
Faction Bio:
It does not take long for the newborn Bog Witch to annihilate every single village within the forest she once called home, as well as scaring most traders and travellers from venturing into the cursed woods. However, the Bog Witch would not be satisfied by only a handful of soulless slaves serving her. No, she needs more. More plaything to play with, and more shivering cowards to turn into her loyal servants. With that in mind, she garnered her mindless army and resources and started raiding villages beyond her forest. However, she also know that marching an entire army under bright sunlight will attract more trouble than she cared to solve, and thus her horde almost always marched under the cover of moonless nights, relying on its lack of needs to sleep, eat or drink. Often dispatching small units of bog corpses to harass unsuspecting villagers, tormenting their morale until finally marching in for the harvest, it proved to be a rather successful strategy, slowly bleeding the cursed woods beyond its natural boundary.
Sometimes, her horde will embark on lengthy conquest of nearby woodlands and swamps, relying on the virtually impassable terrain to conceal their movement, before gathering enough slaves and servants to return to their temple, where she will indulge in lengthy hedonism at the expense of her victims.

This is only a rough draft, all things beyond the premise can and probably will be changed, including her placeholder name. :p

Also, as recommended by one of my friends, she will probably either side with the good guys or be a neutral third party that aim on maintaining some balance. Whether the good guys will want her, though, is another matter entirely.

Also, comments and suggestions are welcome!

Fleshrender doesn't rend people's flesh, he is a war god.

I honestly don't know how he could reasonably be made to believe that. Killing innocents really isn't in their modus operandi, but even more so they would never transgress against the local temporal authorities, given their devotion to the authority of the state as followers of Mauro. It would be like blaming Nature priests for burning down a forest. It just doesn't make sense, no matter how griefstricken you are. And, honestly, if he joins forces with Balor what are the odds that he's not going to find out it was his minions? Certainly, word would get around, right? I think there are a few too many holes in this bucket. He should presume his son dead and then maybe go into a spiral because of that.

And there's other problems with it. Mauro despises magic and human sacrifice, which were both clearly at play here. And a Priest of Mauro was killed. And there are dead cultists and hellhounds and no dead Guardsmen of Mauro.

In fact, if anything, he should hate cultists if he presumes his son dead. So he should presume his son missing.

I second this.

I like it, though your combat troops are going to be pretty much cannon fodder for our cannon fodder :P I think my skeletons will be of more use than the Souless. Still a Bog Witch eh? unique and flavourful
