Mauro; Lightbringer- God of Light, Purity, and Conformity to the state. Despises magic.
Gandolo; Coingiver- God of Prosperity, Wealth, and Productivity. Despises indolence.
Vidia; Rulemaker- God of Laws, Obedience, and Justice. Despises unfair treatment. Judges in the afterlife.

The thing about gods, I think, that needs to be remembered, is that to be gods in the full sense they kinda need worshipers. Which means that a being like Vidia, who's a death goddess but also a justice goddess, has a good case for being worshiped, but I'm not sure why anyone would worship someone like Aseliron or Edaklius. In polytheism, gods and worshipers have quite a bit of give and take, in that both are supposed to get something out of the worship.

Tons of people would worship Gandolo, even though he has some negative aspects. I can't see all that many worshiping a god whose title is Fleshrender.

Orcs, I guess.

I kinda see Orcs as practicing some sort of really basic animist type religion, or ancestor worship. I mean, Orcs may be Orcs, but they still have lives and shit. I don't see why an Orc would want their flesh rent any more than an elf would.

Hey BP do you think you could leave a few troops there to watch over the area as a sort of garrison so when the Lich arrives he can slaughter them thinking they destroyed the town and killed his son which gives him a motive to serve Balor?

Mm... followers of Mauro don't randomly sack towns. That would be very, very displeasing to Mauro and it's incredibly dubious that they would even have their powers if they did that. You'll have to alter your story a bit. I know it won't be exactly what you wanted, but it wouldn't make sense that way. And also when the Citadel says everyone out, they mean everyone.

I honestly don't know how he could reasonably be made to believe that. Killing innocents really isn't in their modus operandi, but even more so they would never transgress against the local temporal authorities, given their devotion to the authority of the state as followers of Mauro. It would be like blaming Nature priests for burning down a forest. It just doesn't make sense, no matter how griefstricken you are. And, honestly, if he joins forces with Balor what are the odds that he's not going to find out it was his minions? Certainly, word would get around, right? I think there are a few too many holes in this bucket. He should presume his son dead and then maybe go into a spiral because of that.

And there's other problems with it. Mauro despises magic and human sacrifice, which were both clearly at play here. And a Priest of Mauro was killed. And there are dead cultists and hellhounds and no dead Guardsmen of Mauro.

In fact, if anything, he should hate cultists if he presumes his son dead. So he should presume his son missing.
