Concept: The concept is character intensive and will play upon themes that are often overlooked in many role plays on this site. Dealing with the morality of choices, philosophical notions, and the ethics of your own characters decisions along with humanity. Some people find that boring but to me that is more important in character development than how many cheesy lines of dialogue or rehashed actions sequences a character can make when they go from normal average joe to rambo on a dime. This is a character role play dealing with the every day concepts of life, accomplishments, vanity, greed, violence, and to an extant existentialism.
Genre(s):Post-Modernism, a tiny bit of FT to smooth out some of the Post-Modern concepts, and possibly post-apocalyptic or not happening pending on the course of the role play.

Detailed Description:

The role play will be set slightly into the future in the 2050's where Humanity really has divided socially into two strata. On one side you have the developed world where citizens boast long life spans and cures to numerous ailments which still plague us in real life. Robotics and cybergenetic engineering is booming and expanding along with synthetic life. We've landed Humans on Mars and established an outpost on the Moon. For all of Humanities accomplishments it is not without sacrifice. The rest of the world is in absolute polluted squalor. Disease and crime ridden where life is often short and miserable.

In the year 2046 Doctor Ibrahim Michaelokov of Russia, an Astrophysicist, discovered a floating object of metallic origin when observing the night sky. It crash landed in Southern Nevada near the Edwards Airforce Base. Immediately the US Government descended upon the site and the story has been hushed up. Though conspiracy theories abound.

Doctor Ibrahim was brought on staff at Area 51 as part of a secret international team to study the "Artifact" as it was nicknamed. The Artifact being a smooth obsidian looking pillar roughly 3 meters high by 1.5 meters wide and in the shape of an octagon. Otherwise it has no markings or symbols on its surface along with not even a single mark or blemish. It is for all terminology perfectly sculpted to the point it would put any similar work of man to shame.

For two years the team worked without luck. All attempts at even scratching it failed. X-Ray's turned up as nothing but blackness and no device by Man could effect it. Then in early 2049 the young niece of Doctor Ibrahim who was also an intern touched the device by accidentally bumping into it. All of a sudden the base went silent as an EMP pulse blasted out to cover an area of 15 square miles. Everyone in the room except the young niece was killed as the electrons in their bodies were simply wiped from existence. The niece survived, barely, and had remained in an un-aging catatonic state within the facility. Her body not showing the usual signs of prolonged coma induced sleep.

You are selected as part of the base personnel working to solve the mystery of are we really alone in the universe? and the fantastic or terrible consequences it will bring forth. For in 2051 researchers realized that during the EMP pulse two years prior the pillar had shot out a radio signal into the depths of space.

Well tinge Entente only "won" by forcing the Kaisers armies on the Western Front to retreat and the Home Front collapsed with the 1918 Naval mutiny. The Kaisers Army was never decisively defeated in the field and only was forced to retreat via supply shortage and facing overwhelming numbers when the US entered.

If the US never entered to reinforce the Entente armies on the Western Front Germany would have won eventually as France and Britain were exhausted.

Russia was already defeated and the treaty with the Central powers dictated they would have access to 25% of Russia's population, and I believe 50% of it's resources would be shipped to Germany.

So if the CSA and USA are busy duking it out the Kaisers army has a big chance of winning the war in Europe.

I recommend looking at Harry Turtledove and his series dealing with alternate history.

The entire German strategy (Schlieffen Plan) was based around miscalculations and hopes of being able to crush France quickly, Franco-Prussian War style. But it failed at Marne, and that's where it all went to hell. Remember, this is no WW2 - both sides believed the war will be over by Christmas, and thus were not prepared for a four year long bloodshed. However, the Central Powers were in a worse position for such a war - they were smaller and less populous, had less resorces to fuel their industry in time of embargo, had less colonies and their populations grew more and more divided every day, with ideological split in Germany and national in Austria-Hungary and Turkey.

I think they're in a worse position now, the Quadruple Alliance is : German Union, USA(Not much of anything due to the brewing revolution) CSA, Ottomans, Chinese State and the Brazilian Empire
