They're old laws, typically pre-Confederate, even. They go unenforced and often have sunset clauses that expire them anyway. I'm a lobbyist in Florida and all the traffic laws, for instance, have to be renewed annually.

Hey guys, I know that this is pretty much over, and that we've moved on, but I really want to make sure we never devolve into this again.

As you all know, I recently made an RP (I'm not advertising it, but I'd like to make a point, so I won't even link to it)
When I made it, I looked at all of the things that I learned from RPing besides all of you and wanted to create an awesome RP as someone capable and people could have a good time, much like what I believed The Council upheld. So much so, that I even linked back here, even though you guys had no direct influence on its creation. I proudly put in that link, I dedicated it all partly to you all. I was "extremely excited".

In light of recent events, I looked back over the OP. Despite never really thinking that it would blow up, despite Conspiracy Theories not being, in my mind, a very touchy subject, I prepared for the worst. Subconsciously, and on numerous occasions, throughout the rules, the wording, the explanations, I said that arguing, taking offense, slander and libel were expressly forbidden. I hate that, but in new light, that seems to be the only message I can take from it now. How can I even find humor in what is literally a comedy and satirical RP when I'm so terrified that at any moment arguing will erupt. I can't stand it, it made me (THE OP, the person that literally made the damn thing) question if I should continue.

Here is the affect you all have: You influence the RPs around you, you are all giants in this industry. You may think that some little joke about a bike isn't a big deal, but whenever you anger someone, you shake the premise that this entire Council is based upon, you could shatter the dreams of new and upcoming OPs because they see this and fail to see the funny side. Or worse, they find themselves preparing for arguments as if they were an eventuality, not a random occurrence, like I have.

Recently, a good man, a veteran actually, told me this, "There is only one safe joke: A joke that is made about yourself. Every other joke you make will also make enemies."

I'm saddened, angered and disappointed by all of this, we've come so far, and we're so close to reaching the 500 page limit. When this has to be refounded, I want all of us to come back and rejoin, not because we feel we have to, but because we want to. I like to think that everyone here is here to make good RPs and have a good time doing it. So, seriously, what the fuck was that?!

I'm sorry that was so long winded, thanks for hearing me out. Just know that I don't know if I can bear this again.

Seriously though. I've very little room to talk, but remember Saturday, when I posted my RP idea? And got one response? Granted, I intentionally made it short, but god fucking dammit people. When I first joined, everyone would've jumped on it, offering advice, help, even some criticism.

Now? Now we're too busy hitting each other with our country's metaphorical dicks and having spats about the most idiotic bullshit that can be thought up. Bikes and anime and flags and Dutch people being dildos and everything else.

What happened to the whole idea this council and this thread were founded on? RPing and having a good time? Were they, along with several nations, tossed down the drain? Is the next thread gonna have redtext in it, with deleted nations and next-to-no RPs? Do any of you remember when this thread had no rules, because people could respect each other, take a joke, and know not to go too far?
