Yeah, but then I could throw a lot of others, too. Like those silly Targeryens, or Martell kiddos :P

They don't really count as characters, do they? They're just backstory.

Anyway, I don't understand how one can "hate anime". I mean, there's just too much diversity to say something like that. It's like saying "I hate yellow things" or "I hate black-haired people".

Yeah... Anime is more like a medium than a genre. It's kinda generalising anime a lot to say you hate all of it.

Also, I seem to have found someone else who likes Game of Thrones and Anime...

Don't like the drawing style, the voices generally make me cringe, 'nya' makes me want to gauge eyes out (not mine, mind), and what is considered 'cute' is, to me, 'weird' at the very least. Don't find any of those stories interesting either, as far as I've read.
The hate comes from how people consider it the second coming of [insert your prophet here], and how here on NS you're practically bombarded with it.

Eh. I do take issue with some of the voice acting on even the best dubs, so I can see where your coming from.
Though anime doesn't exactly have a single drawing style... I suppose it depends which anime you watch...

Oh, I do also know anime does have it's missteps...

Though anime is an exceptionally diverse medium, I do hold it's not for absolutely everyone. Though I do like to think there is an anime show or movie for everyone, not everyone from the west can get around the cultural barrier, and even then there no guarantee you'll find that show you'd like.

The drawing style varies enormously, "nya" (which I also generally dislike) only exists in a minority of anime, what is considered cute changes with every author and the stories are on the same level as those told by any other medium, since they don't have anything peculiar.
As for the voices, I'll admit that the dubs are often cringe-worthy, which is why I only watch it subbed.

Anime/manga is successful precisely because it appeals to a wide range of interests through a great variety of means. Obviously, the same goes for most other media; anime is simply the one which spreads the most over the Internet, because it's well-suited to it.

Well, I like every medium of fiction anyway, so ...

Yeah, but you don't watch those for the drawing style, right? You watch them for the jokes. Well, I do, anyway.
I've found some anime where I disliked the drawing style and some where I found it very good, but usually I don't really care as long as it fits the ambience of the show.

Wondering about Interest

Postby Sithian Korriban » Sat Sep 13, 2014 3:27 am

Hey everyone, I'm just wondering, would anyone be interested in a Star Wars themed Roleplay set in the Old Republic Era? If so let me know because I'm considering making one at some point in the near future.

The human sacrificed himself, to save the Pokemon. I pitted them against each other, but not until they set aside their differences did I see the true power they all share deep inside. I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

The one thing that annoys me about the current generation of Pokemon is the "cause" of Mega Evolution. Don't get me wrong, I love Megas, but the explanation about their origin... "if the Pokeman and da trainer really luv each uther, then the pokemon can go MEGAAA!!!". It's like they make these games for kindergardeners - love, friendship everywhere!

This annoys me becayse of two reasons:
1. There is no goodness in our world, at least in such amounts.
2. Megas become 5x less cooler with that story.

If I ever make a Pokemon series, I would treat Megas as Megas.

Yeah, I've always been mildly repulsed by that whole "love & friendship" thing in Pokemon. I mean, to trainers - any trainers -, Pokemon are biological weapons used for sportive combat or, alternatively, highway robbery. You don't need to love them so much. If anything, loving them so much will probably backfire and get them kil - hurt, since you might end up feeling bad about making the requisite sacrifices in combat, changing your team's composition when necessary and even, as mind-bogglingly stupid as it might sound, refusing to make your Pokemon evolve.

Don't get me started on the non evolving Pikachu...
The thing that annoys me most about it is Ashes Pikachu would make an amazing Raichu, consider it's above norm abilities.

By beating the shit out of other Pokemon, of course!

Something that really irritated me, was when I first started watching Black and White was I noticed all of what changed almost immediately.

Ash has green hair, sounds younger, and Pikachu sounds like a 4 year old girl when he used to... Well, not.

Brock and Misty are gone, which pissed me off beyond all comprehension because Ash and Misty were meant to be together. :C and they were replaced by a dude that looks about as clueless as it gets and a chick who's hair is bigger than she is.

I like anime and GoT.
Though I like anime more.
Also, I've found that Hayao Miyazaki's works are quite different from most anime works: the eyes are a normal size, there's no physics-defying shit (unless it's actually explained as magic), and the characters are quite believable. I'd say that he'd be a great gateway for many Westerners into the world of anime -- even if they never venture too far past that point.
