They don't really count as characters, do they? They're just backstory.
Anyway, I don't understand how one can "hate anime". I mean, there's just too much diversity to say something like that. It's like saying "I hate yellow things" or "I hate black-haired people".

Don't like the drawing style, the voices generally make me cringe, 'nya' makes me want to gauge eyes out (not mine, mind), and what is considered 'cute' is, to me, 'weird' at the very least. Don't find any of those stories interesting either, as far as I've read.
The hate comes from how people consider it the second coming of [insert your prophet here], and how here on NS you're practically bombarded with it.

The one thing that annoys me about the current generation of Pokemon is the "cause" of Mega Evolution. Don't get me wrong, I love Megas, but the explanation about their origin... "if the Pokeman and da trainer really luv each uther, then the pokemon can go MEGAAA!!!". It's like they make these games for kindergardeners - love, friendship everywhere!
This annoys me becayse of two reasons:
1. There is no goodness in our world, at least in such amounts.
2. Megas become 5x less cooler with that story.
If I ever make a Pokemon series, I would treat Megas as Megas.

Yeah, I've always been mildly repulsed by that whole "love & friendship" thing in Pokemon. I mean, to trainers - any trainers -, Pokemon are biolgical weapons used for sportive combat or, alternatively, highway robbery. You don't need to love them so much. If anything, loving them so much will probably backfire and get them kil - hurt, since you might end up feeling bad about making the requisite sacrifices in combat, changing your team's composition when necessary and even, as mind-bogglingly stupid as it might sound, refusing to make your Pokemon evolve.
