The Island...


The Southern Isles, paradise at first glance these islands hold secrets dark, ancient; and creatures so fierce, and insidious, that few return from the deep jungle. Those who do, who have graced the shores of these primal lands, tell tales that both amaze, and horrifying travelers.

You are part of an expedition to the second largest of these isles. Having boarded the Fair Wind in the port city of Amosh. Days of sail are coming to a close, and at last, the island is in sight.

Race Options:

Human: A diverse race that makes the bulk of Everlands population. (Most structures are built for the human population making access easier. A human Mage is able to tap into all schools of magic, where as other races are limited)
Purren: A feline race of cat folk, the Purren stand almost a meter in height, and are known as excellent climbers. (Possesses Low Light Vision, and retractable claws used for increased grip)
Raetkin: Rat folk who possess speed, and dexterity. the Raetkin have a reputation for crooked thievery. (Ability to Sprint, Nimble Fingers make the picking of locks easier for them. These fingers, coupled with observant eyes makes them adept to finer details)

Personal Summery:
An adventurous and curious Raetkin, always seeking to discover the unknown. He is quick witted and skilled in persuading others, often charming and cheerful. He is unusually brave for a Raetkin, wishing to explore and expand the knowledge of the empire. However his main failing is his greed and avarice. While he won't cheat any of the crew out of their money, he will risk life and limb for coin and to increase his own knowledge.

Born to a poor Raetkin family, connections with human nobles and mages landed him in a job as a privateer, protecting the coast from Kirken raiders, smugglers and pirates. He had many adventures and ended up as a captain of his own ship. However as the coastal defences improved the need for privateers lessened, and so they began to become a dying breed. Mathais, quick to adapt and change with the times, got an explorers license and a new crew, set upon exploring the southern isles and searching for fabled treasure and glory.

Appearance: (I have no picture >_<) He is a tall blonde man known to wear a clean pair of brown cotton trousers and a black button down shirt. Jay is often seen wearing black thick rimmed prescription glasses and carrying a wooden cane with the handle in the shape of a sea dragon then if one were to direct his attention to his feet there would be a stump in which his foot was amputated. He carries his firearms under a thick leather jacket in individual holsters where it is easy for him to reach and a cutlass is strapped to his belt buckle next to his cane.

Equipment: Wooden Cane, leather fedora, three flintlock pistols, a cutlass, metallic flask, and a messenger's bag
Personal Summery:

Jay has been considered to be an even tempered man with the main occupation of a travelling merchant and he came from a long line of sea-faring merchants down to his greater ancestors. His skill often makes up for the lack of a functioning foot after forcing an amputation while trying to escape a burning townhouse at one of the main port cities in everland and was awarded a cane imbued with a charm of healing to keep him from feeling the pain of losing part of a limb. After his rehabilitation Jay turned his gaze to exploration and pursued an explorer's license until he held one in his hands then was gifted his own sailing ship by his family before sailing towards the southern isles.

On his voyage to the southern isles he dropped anchor at one of the other ports to gather more supplies and found himself recruiting two orphans on the account that they were now miles away from their home port with a set eye on exploration. With such a crew he began to train them as they neared the shore of the southern isles.

Wooden Staff; Satchel containing some food and healing water.

Personal Summery:

A stoic natured boy, he came from a low ranking family of nobles and was reasonably well educated. However his prospects of a financially as well as socially sound life was averted not long after his tenth birthday when his home was ransacked by a group of six rouge fire mages. In the ensuing struggle his parent were murdered before his eyes before the whole premises were set ablaze. Too weak to fight off the intruders he was left inside the burning household and was unable to prevent his 2 year old sister from being taken by one of the men. Soon he passed out from the lack of oxygen and it was in response to this stimuli of danger that first triggered his own magical ability to manipulate air currents which he unconsciously used to clear away the fire and smoke but by this point the intruders had already gotten away and the trauma of the ordeal caused the boy's hair to whiten, a revelation he viewed along with his new found power as a loss of innocence and soon took up a vendetta to avenge his lost honor and dignity.

Over the course of five years he successfully hunted down and killed 5 of the 6 individuals responsible, before killing him, he forced the Fifth Man into revealing the location of the Sixth, the ringleader of the group and also the one who had abducted his sister. From the information relayed to him he learnt that the Sixth was last seen setting voyage to the Southern Isles with a young girl as his companion.

Now he sets sail towards the new world of the Southern Isles, though unlike other travelers who seek adventure or a new beginning, he travels to end something following under the path of darkness with his heart consumed by vengeance.

I suppose I can work with that... I'll simply take on the role of various minor, and hindering characters as well as function as a Narrator of sorts.

As in the NPCs that are affiliated with our characters?

The orphans I mentioned in Jay's back story are girls...

Yes, though... i'm not very good at diverse child characters. At least, I don't consider my self very good... maybe, maybe I'll pull it off.

Alright, before I get the IC up I want those who have apped a character to examine, and discuss how the trip to this island was, and their current standing. Establish some relations before we start, k?

Hmmm.... neither am I... though it does make sense for our characters to be at least acquainted with each other since we're all travelling on the same vessel?

My character Keyro would likely be a reserved loner, speaking only when spoken to and would really take more of a passenger role than operating any part of the ship.

Sounds kinda difficult to have it happen since two out of three of us have ships...along with some sort of crew...

Maybe Mathis and Jay form some form of partnership which makes an exploration company then your person comes along as another partner?

With the partnership Jay sells his ship and the orphans become part of the crew as direct assistants to Jay while Mathis still keeps his crew to operate his ship

With the partnership Jay sells his ship and the orphans become part of the crew as direct assistants to Jay while Mathis still keeps his crew to operate his ship

I'm fairly sure we're just suppose to have one ship, all of us on one exploratory party.
The question is, how would Jay have know Mathais before the exploration party?

I figured the single ship was already decided upon based on dicussion on the Everland thread on the plot of our Pilot RP, as well as the following from the OOC;

I had initially thought it was 1 ship, then after Jay's app was accepted I mistook it for now having 2 ships.
