If the USSN decided to invade neither Amcar nor the Helm would do much unless they were sure intervening would benefit them.

Switzerland can be neutral because it is surrounded by mountains and landlocked. No one has a reason to bother invading them. You on the other hand have a coast and lowlands.

And libertarian to boot, so no large standing armies, police force, or government control of any kind. But luckily there are always mountains for Nyssans to go to. M = NKA haha

The lowlands are a killing field that the invader will eventually overcome along with the capital Endusal and think they have accomplished something major. That really wouldn't matter. No free nation will risk angering a nuclear powered bloc. You would be on your own either way

@Lyanica: yes there is my formula. But I'm afraid I may have exxagerated about my Libertarianism. There is a small (80'000) army that is fairly competent along with an airforce and navy. So no large standing military but a small and competent one. And a paramilitary that could grow to like 4 million in the event of a catastrophic aliens-have-invaded scenario.

@Bering: The mountains aren't quite as high as you think. Though they are quite high. There are farms and ranches in the foothills. Forests filled with game. Streams and rivers with fish. Not enough to support the entire population but enough that resistence continues. Plus by the time the killing fields (I'm sorry Lowlands) have been taken the invader is facing astronomical casulties. It becomes a question of how much further they are willing to go at that point.

Well an army that does not go to war often is not really competent until actually tested. That is why a lot of armies suffer casualties at the beginning of war, they are inexperienced.

When I say "killing fields" think of Finland. Except for the highways around Endusal there really aren't a lot of major roads. Even in the lowlands. With the non agricultural land being forests and lakes and such a large-scale push in any direction outside of Endusal is extremely difficult. And impossible if there are political consequences to taking extremely heavy casulties for very little land.

This is all pointless anyway. We may have different ideas of the size and power of the invader. We may be talking about different scenarios.

I don't see why they can't. They put enough air power in the air and they can quite simply burn a lot of it away. Besides since they are not that high, I don't see why the attacker can't just occupy the valuable parts in the mountain/hills.
