A complete history is unwritten, but the wiki has some of nations' histories down.
Really it all depends where you settle. Aredia, Kovedia, and Jaynesia are about the only ones with any real history about their continents as a whole and even then it is not a lot. Anywhere else is pretty much free of a lot of history.

Responses to the civil war would probably depend on who each side is allied with and what they are fighting for, etc.

Why not just get rid of one of them and open up the space for someone else?

Vladyka Korolestvo! Anyway, that seems to be an aredian country there dude. But seeing that Belka is a German and the Turkayu Kaganligi is north of Seresia, explanations on how did a Slavic nation, particularly a western european based one, reach the East Asian world.

The biggest advantage is either not pissing off any blocs by not siding with their rivals or pissing off all three blocs in equal porportion. Which hopefully leads to them ignoring you.

Why would that be an impediment? The cold war had dozens of conflicts conducted by one or the other power. The issue is Nyssa. You are a safe target, without a bloc to defend you are a neutral target that will not upset any of the blocs into action. If the USSN decided to invade neither Amcar nor the Helm would do much unless they were sure intervening would benefit them.

Switzerland can be neutral because it is surrounded by mountains and landlocked. No one has a reason to bother invading them. You on the other hand have a coast and lowlands.
