It is Shinto, he might be alt-historying it for some reason though.... Taoism is Chinese. Now I know that certain Chinese Philosophies did spread in Japan, but they blended with Shinto instead of attempting to replace it (like in Korea).

However the Dutch have North and Mid Atlantic and Caribbean power that far surpasses Venice. The Neapolitans are powerful in the South Atlantic and West Mediterranean. The Milanese have significant Central Mediterranean power, the Byzantines and Ottomans have Massive Aegean and Black Sea Power, though the Ottomans have more. The Moroccans rival the Sicilians in the Western Mediterranean and the North African Coast. Songhai is kinda waiting to get trade raped by the Europeans. France has some Mediterranean power but more significant central Atlantic and Caribbean power that rivals the Dutch. The English have Isles, Mid Atlantic and Caribbean power. The Danish have Baltic power only rivaled by Novgorod and barely Sweden. The North-most Atlantic is almost exclusively controlled by the danish and the Castilians and Portuguese have Mediterranean, Mid Atlantic and Caribbean power that is somewhat comparable to France and England but a little behind.
