The thing is, Aircraft can hover (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTOL). We still have the coastguard who will probably get some corvettes with helicopters.

Fair enough, but I still feel that sustained non-lethal options are limited, even in VTOL aircraft. Unless you can show me something specific you have in mind? I can be convinced

If you still have a coast guard that's totally different. I had no idea the ADF had one. Corvettes are too small to carry helipcopters, though, just a heads up.

Id recommend keeping at least 2 frigates and a destroyer along with your corvettes. For coastal defenestration's and if Australia wants to comity a small naval attack, long range.

When we can start putting weapons in space Japan will begin launching kinetic rod satellites as well as anti-satellite laser equipment adapted from anti-asteroid lasers. My Japan also has a space station with two modules, so perhaps it could act as some sort of platform for weapons.
