I'm originally from Canada, but I emigrated to the U.S. and live in the Portland, Oregon area now. That's why I have shamelessly had the USS Zumwalt visit, and the AEGIS conference set there.

Sounds cool, but just like the Airships, not really practical.

Shooting both at once would require they're both lined up and sighted in, which isnt very practical, and with the spread in that picture they can very by a few feet to even 10 yards+ at range, and shooting one after the other is stupid because A) automatic loading mechanisms make loading in under 10 seconds and B) the dust kicked up from a shot would make it practically impossible to aim the second cannon into it settles, by which the 1st cannon will be loaded.

I don't have any real objections, just I don't see it as really being practical.

Personally, I would say that I'm not opposed to it. But I would be interested to know:

Is it just really big? Because as big as tanks are now, there's not a ton of room for the ammunition and loading. And if it's that much bigger, is it still viable with such a large silhouette?

And at what would you be firing that needed two simultaneous hits from a tank's main gun?! :p

The JGSDF is still mainly a defensive force, and not an offensive one. The development of this tank is supposed to provide a heavy tank for final defence of the Japanese homeland should an enemy eventually invade, with the tactical goal being general infantry support and saturation bombardment that the JGSDF is now extremely fond of. It is also meant for fighting in the urban environments of Japan's cities, where ranges would be limited and the twin cannons would provide extra immediate firepower during that 10 seconds of reloading. Advanced thermal optics would solve the dust problem, and both cannons can fire within a second of each other at the same target, though shot spread would be an issue. Hopefully computer systems can solve this, but I'm not looking for a Mary Sue tank here either.

I think it would be somewhat the same size as a self-propelled howitzer. It is intended for defensive operations, so long ranges and high speed are not a priority in the design of the Mitsubishi EHAV-20 (Experimental Heavy Armoured Vehicle, will be changed to Type-whatever year when complete), and the designers imagine that the defensive nature of its use would mean resupply would be easy. The large silhouette would be a problem that would be somewhat negated in urban environments where it is supposed to operate. It is also intended to work together with other main battle tanks, supporting them and infantry forces.

Though, yet another main reason for the development of the EHAV-20 would be the propagandistic value of having a heavy tank in the JGSDF. I doubt many would be built in the end, and much like the airships, they probably may never see combat or would end up in a role completely different from what they are intended to do. Ultimately, they may even scrap the project in favour of more Type-24 Ni-Yons, coming in 2024 to replace the Nana-yon and some of the Kyu-marus.

Not yet. But if you RP your country unrealistically than yes. Space program is gonna take time, and as long as you don't counter direct nations which say specifically where they're going to colonize in Africa (like if Mars or Hobbesistan said something about it) than you're good. For now...
