Context.

Jim Rash wasn't acting, I think.

The former was foreshadowed too unambiguously to be a stunner.

Did it work though?

Yeah.

I had the thought, "Damn, if we were one of those big-budget, high-profile TV shows like Game of Thrones, people would be talking about this scene for weeks."

I dunno if they could beat the level of disturbing reached by, say, the Sherlock fans.

True.

It'd actually be pretty cool for Elfen High to be a major TV show. I mean, I'd be charged with war crimes, but it'd be cool.

"The Elfen High Tumblrs" sound properly historical. You know, like "the Dustbowl" or something.

It would also be impossible without major changes to the plot -- in order for what we're doing right now to have the proper emotional impact, you would need to have done, at the very least, one to three seasons of "Elfen High", two or three seasons of "A World Beyond" (if not three seasons, a special afterwards to show what became of the characters and to introduce Michael Cartwright for whatever the fuck Nat has planned based on that one-shot), and like three or four seasons of "American Paranormal Society" all leading up to a tv movie of "Welcome and Welcome Back" followed by three or so seasons of "Elfen High Returns". Plus a great deal of supplemental material on line equivalent to various one-shots.

Books is probably the only medium it could work in because if you can manage to get one book of a series published, you can probably get all the other books published, but one bad season of a tv show can kill it forever.

This would be pretty epic, if impossible.

I'd likely cause huge changes to the plot, yes. Well, I'd entirely remove Elfen High 1. I'd have "A World Beyond" with a tighter structure and smaller beginning cast. Two seasons would do for that.

Elfen High's series would follow Elfen High 2. I could entirely remove any references to EH1, which wouldn't be very hard.

And "American Paranormal Society" can be taken or left, it's not overly essential. The roles of Gabriel and Gwen can be easily taken up by other characters.

I wonder how those Tumblrs would react to finding out the creator of the show they like actively hates them.

So, basically, five seasons. (I really think the small nature of the first arc and its overall lack of having much plot suits it better to a mid-series movie than a full season.)

Do you think that we could actually just make AWB a movie series? I think if we removed some unnecessary elements and stalling, that would not be too hard.

As for the Tumblr ones, that's fairly likely. Something I've observed is that they get very emotional if they feel they're even being somewhat slighted. And they get very emotional if something slightly good happens.

...Actually, Tumblr as a whole is very bafflingly emotional at everything. That's the exact anti-thesis to my general views.

The stoic v. emotional debate is one that has been long fought and both sides raise very good points.

My personal position is "fuck it" and walking between both sides blasting "Carry On My Wayward Son", which is - to be absolutely fair - how I settle most arguments.

Now 32-year-old King Waltheof is betrothed to the 14-year-old Princess of Navarra, who is technically his step-cousin. Because prestige.

"Because prestige" is the most common course of action in EUIV.

Which is probably why Spain is dangerous - I ignore prestige in favor of cool bullshit.

AWB could easily work as movies, actually.

Tumblr being emotional makes sense. It's a micro-blogging site full of teenagers, many of whom don't have many friends in person or a terribly supportive family, and so Tumblr's one of the few places in their life where they can vent emotion towards other people who give a damn about it. This doesn't always contribute to these emotions being vented in a healthy way, because teenagers are stupid, but that's my thoughts on why Tumblr is emotional in the way it is.
