Anyways, what special about them other than the looks?

Very good body armor, imbedded gas mask in the uniform in case a chemical attack happens or there is a dust storm, increased space for grenades and combat tools, ammo and such. Plus they are made out of light materials so the soldier could run more quickly without getting fatigue.
